Trying to plan a December 2006 trip and want to pick a week that is less busy. My choices are either one week before Christmas or two weeks before Christmas. Is there much difference in crowd levels and are the parks open late both weeks?

Two weeks before Christmas is significantly less crowded than the week before. Both pale in comparison to the week after Christmas, which is the busiest time of the year.

There is a direct correlation between crowd levels and park hours -- you can't have it both ways! WDW extends park hours when the crowds are heavier.

Sounds like we chould choose the week that is two weeks prior to Christmas for less crowds. I don't really mind shorter park hours and maybe they will still have extra magic hours some evenings. We plan to stay at WL and I think with shorter hours we can enjoy our resort in the evenings. I can't wait to go back to WL!

Unless they discontinue the EMH altogether, they should have them in December next year. The holiday decorations will be up and the crowds will be down until probably 12-21-2006.

I will let you know soon! We are going dec 12-16 (mon-fri). We chose these dates first for my DH b day on the 14th and from what I have read the lower crowd levels..and we avoided the weekends completely by going mon-fri. I am thinking that is should be good due to kids still in school..holiday recess does not start yet. We are also going to MVMCP on tues the 13th, hoping for smaller crowds as well. I will definately post when I return and let you know.

We have never been to WDW when crowded, so I have no idea what it is like. I did read on touring plans that the 2nd week of Dec crowd levels are mostly 3's and 1 5...pretty good :goodvibes

We are also planning a surprise trip for our DD for next December. Just a few days! We want to go down on Wed Dec 13th and then fly home late Sat night or on Sun morning. We plan to do the MVMCP and that way we will be assured to see the night time parade and fireworks. Hoping that a Thursday night party won't be too packed. Probably will do Epcot too. I was looking at the crowd predictions for 2006 and the levels were all around 4!! That will be great!

We are planning for our May 28th trip now..This will be the busiest time we have ever went. I am spoiled. I will be glad to go back in December!!

For any of you who go this particular week THIS year, let me know how the crowds, wait times, etc. are so that I can know what to expect next year. :wave2: Thanks!!!!

We're going the 9th - 16th of December because it's still considered value pricing for the resorts and the crowds aren't bad.
