How big was your friendship group as a child?

Massive. I’m a boomer from a very Catholic neighborhood. Lots and lots and lots of kids and we mostly herded around together.

In my clique there were 3 of us. You might call it 4 but not all at the same time. It was a situation where we had our 3 friend group, but one them moved away. A "satellite friend" we knew through her became part of our clique. Outside of our little clique, we had a number of "associates" for bigger social situations.

There were 9 of us in our neighborhood growing up and we were all pretty close. In school I had about a handful of close friends.

We also had a neighborhood herd. it was in an era when many moms stayed at home, and only the rich folks had 2 cars, so no play dates further than your feet or bike would take you!

In school I never went to the same school building more than 2 years. I wasn't really friends of my own grade. Thus every year my friend group changed in school.

Outside of school we had a core group of 5 of us.

Prior to high school, the neighborhood was full of kids. 2 stops for the school bus filled it. Enough kids that when we played sports in the back yards, we had people on the side to sub out in shifts.

I think there were 3 or 4 on the street during elementary. Junior high, I met my best friend and it was pretty much us 2 during high school. We had a few other friends that would occassionally do things with us, but pretty much us two.

I had different friend groups. In the neighborhood where I lived till I was 9, there were about six of us plus a couple of slightly older or younger siblings that sometimes tagged along. My next neighborhood didn't have many kids, but I hung out with one girl on my street and a pair of sisters from the next street over. I changed schools a lot, so I didn't have any close school friends but plenty of friendly acquaintances. But the ones that stuck were my theater friends. There was a pack of about 15-20 kids/teens/young adults that were in basically every show together for over a decade, and we did all kinds of stuff together in between shows. Most of us have moved away since then, but we're all still pretty tight. Three in particular I still count among my very closest friends.

I grew up in a closed community and all we really had was each other. I'd say my immediate friend group was 2 or 3. But it changed and varied a lot.

I was a military brat who went to 12 different schools from K-12. I always had a ton of friends. I was definitely not shy lol.

I had all the neighbor kids on my little South Philly street to play with, but only a few I would classify as friends.
