How big of a failure is My Magic "Plus" ??? An Interesting Read Here!!!

No, it means that even knowing the facts, I still dont trust hackers not to be able to figure out a way around the safeguards.

But that is the point. You cannot hack the bands and get anything. You can steal the number off the card. Therefore if you don't tie your card to your account and use the actual card instead, there is more likelyhood you will have the number stolen.

In other words: It is easier to "hack" you and your card, then Disney's computer. And it is impossible to hack anything on the magic band because it contains nothing of value to anyone but Disney.

80 percent of bank/card/financial fraud happens via paper; via forged/stolen checks, physical card or ID theft, and most commonly account/password information being stolen off a desk/out of a wallet/etc... Yes, we hear about "hackers" in the news and how they steal swaths of passwords and card numbers because those are sexy crimes that sound scarier to report on via the news. However those incidents are almost always caught right after it happens, and they can be safeguarded against by the banks/etc...

So what it boils down to, is that not using your CC via magic bands due to elevated fear of fraud/theft, is just about as irrational as refusing to ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad because you read that once someone got hurt on Primeval Whirl...

I don't understand the last part, are you saying that FP was not intended to be used on rides such as SM 3 or 4 times in one day, instead of 1 for SM and 2 or 3 for other attractions around the park?

It's very possible to follow the window rules of the old FP system and get more than 3 or 4 fast passes in one day. This new system doesn't allow that.
Did you not see the signs when you entered the MK about only pulling one fastpass for each ride only?

Oh that's right neither did I.

All I know is that I don't put much stock in "it will never happen". If you and others are comfortable using them, good for you, I'm not.

I see people talking on here about them having issues with their AP not linking properly with magic bands. I have an AP and made reservations yesterday for a june trip and the disney rep said you cannot link an AP to magic band. Is this true or not?

Ours were linked and then they weren't about 3 times already. I talked to a Disney IT guy and I'm guessing if it wasn't possible, he would have told me.

A distinct possibility would be that they could clone the numbers intercepted from your bands RFID signal can create their own duplicate. They could then use this charge various items throughout the park. Considering this would be done one step back from using the actual card information they stole I wonder how the banks would feel about this regarding this type of charge?

Entry of a personal 4-digit PIN code is required for all purchases. Merely cloning the MagicBand is not sufficient.

Additionally, since there are two transmitters in each band, it stands to reason that the signals being emitted by both are different. The long range transmitter is likely sending out the signal which allows for PhotoPass integration, virtual ride enhancements, etc.

The identifier required to make purchases and unlock doors would only be broadcast by the short range transmitter.

Our AP's have been linked and working since september.

Here now as a DVC member and AP holder. The FP+/MagicBand system has worked beautifully! I'm enjoying the ease of it, no wait times for my FP selections, and new things I haven't seen before. I've also had low wait times for other attractions and enjoy using the band as a room key and for ME. It's been fantastic so far!

.
But WDW was never part of that...its not the place for "ride enthusiasts"

Might i suggest busch gardens, tampa?

You realize that some people are quite happy with the level of the rides at WDW and don't want a more intense experience, right? So, they become incredibly enthusiastic about the rides at WDW.

Disney want to go cashless. They don't want money being used in the parks, or anywhere else. Like the cruise ship. Then they don't need people counting it moving it ect. Major labor saver

How was Wal-mart on black Friday?

So you're disagreeing with people that have extensive knowledge and primarily focus on that exact resort? Hate to burst your pixie bubble, but they F'd up with MM+. You can dissect little issues all you want but the truth is plain and simple.

You seem to be one of the people who love spreading false rumors about this program.

Nikki, do you have young children? Our worry is how this system will play out with little ones.

I'm not sure how this would have any affect on children. They wouldn't be making their own FP+ plans, would they?
