I can't handle much drops at all, so I was wondering how big the drop is in potc. What's it like compared to maelstrom? I did go on that and handled that ok. And what about Space Mountain? How big are the drops?

If you can handle Malestrom, you will be fine on PoTC. It's not bad. Space Mountain is more herky-jerky rather than HUGE drops.

I don't do drops either and I was fine on both. Pirates is like the Norway ride...except it is at the beginning. I don't remember any drops on Space Mountain. It is fast (sorta) and in the dark which makes it seem like its worse than it is. Neither is near as bad as Splash Mountain!

Basically if you've done Norway you can do Pirates and if you've done Big Thunder you can do Space. Even Rocking Roller Coaster didn't have the drops but it does have SPEED and the upside down element. I actually liked that one alot though. I enjoyed the chicken exit on Tower of Terror!!! :rotfl: There is NO way I will do that one!

Splash is the worst in Mk. And ToT is worst in WDW. Space Mountain doesn't have any drops that I can remember.

Space mountain is not just one drop. while the largest drop is only about 10 to 15 feet, there are a few small drops, sort of like Primeval Whirl, just without the spinning cars.

Potc's drop is nothing to be worried about. It's more of a downhill slide than a drop, just like Maelstrom, but totally dark.

I really hate drops and I can handle everything in WDW easily but TOT. If you can deal with Norway, POTC is even easier.

I hate drops too but have no trouble with POTC. It's over before you know it's started. :)

Just to let the OP know....even though this drop does not look like much...it does seem like a big drop when you dont expect it and the feel that the ride is fast...its not like splash but it seem pretty big...I love the ride its my fav....just wanted to give a heads up

Well the drop at Pirates of the Caribean is only a VERY small one...
In fact this ride was supposed to have NONE!
The drop is simply because the track had to fit under the railroad tracks of the disneyworld railroad... (so it is really very very VERY small...)

Space Mountain is only 27 m/ph fast but it feels a lot faster :goodvibes
The drops should be OK (as soon as you feel it it will be over ! :cool1:

Try them both and you will see! :cheer2:

Good to know that I'm not the only one who is afraid to go on TOT! :lmao:

I was told that the drop on POTC was 10 feet. Not a stomach in your throat drop at all. BTMR has about the same drop, but it feels a little larger--I only get the stomach in my throat feeling if I sit in the back. Space Mountain has quite a few, but since it is dark, by the time you realize you are dropping it is almost over. I get the beginnings of the stomach in my throat feeling. I think part of that feeling is knowing you are about to drop and you don't know in SM.

I've been on them all and agree that POTC is very, very easy. I agree with the poster that said that the speed of Space Mtn. makes the drop seem bigger. I believe that the darkness adds to that sensation and the fact that you're on a narrow track with open space on either side as opposed to BTMRR and Splash where you have rocks and/or water around you. I find Space Mtn. a little more intimidating but I like to ride it. I have no problems with BTMRR, Splash, ToT, or RnR. I encourage you to at least try PoTC.

My driveway has a larger drop than POTC does! Like someone else said, it is a drop of necessity, not thrill. Really not a big deal. Have FUN!!

From the great internet....

POTC---6 foot drop

Space Mountain--15 foot drop(largest)

BTMR--38 feet(sure doesn't feel this big:confused3)

Splash Mountain--52 ft
