How big are GF standard rooms?

How big are the standard rooms (non-dormer) rooms at the Grand Floridian? Are they a bit smaller than the rooms at the Contemporary and Polynesian?

Hi there:

We stayed at the Grand Floridian, in a lagoon view room in Boca Chica, and the rooms were a good size, but definitely smaller than the rooms at the Contemporary and the Polynesian. Most standard rooms have 2 queen beds plus a day bed. I have some pictures of our room on my web site. I tried to find the actual square footage of the room, but haven't been able to find it. I know the rooms at the Caribbean Beach resort are 340 sq ft (they are the largest rooms of all the moderates), and our room at the Grand Floridian was much bigger than this, but definitely smaller than Contemporary and Polynesian. Hope this helps!

P.S. Having the glass doors and balcony at the GF made the room seem more open and airy, too

Thanks for the quick response. You're right: the Contemporary and Polynesian (in that order, too) have the biggest deluxe rooms on property. Hotel rooms were constructed much bigger 30 years ago!

I think I read somewhere that the GF's rooms are 400 sq ft (the Polynesian's are 409 while the Contemporary's are a very spacious 440!). So the GF's rooms are bigger than the YC or BC's or any of the moderates, but like you said, the patio door and balcony create an illusion of size.

Good information on room sizes is very difficult to find.
The Unofficial Guide says GF standard rooms are 400 sq ft.
Although the Unofficial Guide has a lot of good info in it, I am skeptical of its room size information as it varies from other sources in several ways, e.g. it claims that Caribbean Beach rooms are the same size as those at Port Orleans, even though any number of people and sources recognize that Caribbean Beach rooms are larger.

This site (wdwinfo.com) says 440 sq ft, which is what some other sources say. Perhaps the only way to be sure is to stay there and bring a tape measure!

Info on the Polynesian is more consistent, usually 409 sq ft (Tikiman says 402). And most sources agree that Contemporary rooms are about the same size as GF, with 436 sq ft commonly given.

Our room at the Poly seemed bigger than our room at the GF... but I think I read somewhere that the Poly rooms can vary depending on what building you're in. Some of the building are newer and I believe a tad smaller.

The YC, BC, and BWI rooms are definitely smaller than the GF or Poly. I've never stayed at the CR but I've heard they are the biggest.

Thanks for pointing this out. Actually Tikiman's site (http://tikiman2001.homestead.com/) says Tokelau, Tahiti, and Rapa Nui, the "newer" buildings, have larger rooms, 452 sq ft according to him, larger than I've seen claimed for any other resort (excepting possibly Shades of Green).

I believe the GF std rms are 400 sq ft, Contemporary rms are 422 sq ft,
and Poly rms are 409 sq ft,
from what I have seen, that seems about right.,
