I'm looking for a collapsable cooler for the first few days of our trip. Traveling with a kid with a special diet for pku and we won't have a fridge until we check into BWV. I'd like a good sized one but haven't run across one. Any suggestions?

Found a soft sided cooler on wheels with a pop up storage compartment. Bougt it at Sam's for $25ish. Collapses flat, rolls fine. Also saw a same type cooler at Target. Same $$, but no storage compartment on top. HTH:D

I bought the same type of collapsible cooler as house_of_princess at Costco for $25.00. It is by California Innoventions. We are flying down and I will be able to bring it on as a carryon. It holds 54 cans or 36 quarts and has a 100% leak-proof liner. It's pretty nice and is a lot cheaper than $10.00 a day for a fridge!!

Hi Scottygirl, have you done this before and what airline are you flying on? What do you put in the softsided cooler, do you think a case of water would be ok? Thanks for any info.

I bought ours at Target a few years ago. It holds 48 cans, but we've never put that many in it. We usually put in about 20 and have plenty of room for ice. Ours doesn't have wheels and I thought about getting one that did when this one breaks down, but with the wheels, it would be too hard to pack. (for me anyway) Now, I just fold it up and stick it in the pockets on the lid to the rolling carryon we have. It doubles as our carryon for breakables and it just fits when it is full. We usually do not fill it completely and when the airlines tell us we might have to check it, I squish it a little to show it will fit. They let us right on and don't say anything else.

I just bought the cooler a couple of months ago and have never used it yet. We are flying Northwest, and it folds up small enough to meet their carryon requirements. I don't plan on having it packed on the way down. I am sure a case of water would fit in the cooler plus lots of ice. We plan on using it for water, milk, juice and breakfast items.

I've obviously not been looking in the right spots! Thanks. The ones you've mentioned sound perfect for us. I'm going to look at Sam's and Target tomorrow.

CrazyforGoofy, just a little extra help... If at Sam's, I found the cooler on an end cap, in the middle section where all the seasonal merchandise is. (I know all stores are laid out a bit differently, but seasonal is seasonal.) If at Target, I was in the outdoor/camping section when I spotted their version of the cooler on wheels. HTH save some time! :D

I got our 2 softsided collapsible coolers at SEARS. The big blue one on wheels will hold 4 1 gallons of milk plus ice. We packed this one with clothes to go to WDW.

The other yellow one holds 12 pack plus ice. But I use it to pack my Insulin supplies in it to carry on the plane!!
