Expedition Everest backwards part of the coaster...how is the motion sickness factor? Can it be compared to any other ride in WDW? Thanks all!

It's not bad at all...i don't want to ruin it for you but when you go backwards...your first thought is your going to drop...but you don't it's just the opposite...the coaster actually spirals up.....it's when the coaster is going forward again you come to the the drop.....it's a really smooth fun ride...i loved it

thanks I am a big chicken and wanted to know how it is before I get on that ride!!!! Thanks again!!!! :cheer2:

My opinion was slightly different so I thought I would add it. I actually get sick and was a little worried about the backwards part. It did make me sick feeling but we started moving forward again right as I thought it was getting to be too much. I enjoyed the ride but once per trip was plenty for me.

Yes I guess that i will have to try it once.....I do get motion sickness...that is why I am a chicken and the thought of going backwards in the dark kind of freaked me out....I know DH is really wanting to go on this together...so I am trying to get all the info I can on it before hand so I don't panic in line and run away...ha ha ha!

I get motion sickness (take dramamine if I'm riding Mission Space), but the backwards part isn't long enough to bother me. It's probably about 20-30 seconds?

I believe there is a non-drowse formula of dramamine, I remember purchasing this for DS who gets sea sick when fishing. Should also work for rides also, good thing to have around, so not to drag you down during the daytime.

The backwards part made me feel sick as well. Once on EE was plenty for me. I actually felt about the same after EE as after RR.

The backwards part didn't make me sick (and I'm pretty prone to motion sickness), but we were in the very back car of the train, and I really felt like I was falling forward almost out of my seat. I'm guessing that experience isn't as strong the further forward in the train you go because you don't go as far up the incline backwards.

But my sister, on the other hand, had taken 2 Meclizine (prescription motion sickness pills), and she was very very close to throwing up after the ride. I'm not sure if it was the backwards or just the entire ride, but she was very sick to her stomach.

Just thought you might want another opinion.

The backwards portion is a tad disorienting because like someone else said, it's an upwards spiral, which is an odd sensation when you are going backwards and don't have a reference point as to where you are at. I could see how someone could get sick, but that part is very short and I would encourage you to at least try it once. Worst thing that can happen is that you won't want to ride it again. But I bet you'll ride it again during your vacation :)

In looks it is very much like BTMRR in the MK, BUT in my opinion it is a much smoother ride, even when you are going in reverse.

Rode EE 17 times a week or so ago. That backwards part almost did me in the first three times I rode. I thought I was going to be inverted!!! My brain knew I wasn't but my gut told me something different. I tried putting my head right back against the head rest but that made it worse.
Not sure if where you sit makes a difference. I sat about mid-way back the first time, front seat the second time and then various other areas. Did do the very last seat once. The smoothness differed in each area. But, the backwards part didn't seem to differ too much depending on the seating area.

I'm a coaster chicken but I couldn't resist the allure of EE :) It was as intense as any attraction I've experienced, but I rode it twice, and would definitely do it again.:earsboy:
