How bad is your planning obsession?

Yep! I'm big on planning too. For our first trip this past summer, I started planning before we even knew we were actually going! Then 7 months before I subscribed to TGM and also read the UG. Plotting out touring plans, etc., my DH says I'm obsessive and he's right! My MIL laughed when she saw my spreadsheet for our last trip to Nevada!

I'm now planning a trip to D.C. and Ohio next summer and after that our first Disney cruise for summer of 2008! Sigh...gives me something to look forward to!

xraydave you crack me up. I am the same way. My neighbor had some questions as did my DH boss. Well, they receive numerous emails everyday. Too much to say, too little time. :cheer2:

My obsession? (see image below. This is just a few pages of last year's version)... I create a complete trip book with every conceivable piece of information I can think of. I usually wait until a week or so before the actual trip, as things can change up to that point. The trip itself though, I usually begin to lay the ground work six months or so before.

This is soooooooooooooo brilliant :cool2:

Well my trip is 16 months away. I can't book yet until 11 months out but I am trying to get a commitment now from someone. For some reason, they keep thinking I mean April 2007 not 2008. :

I have a spreadsheet detailing which parks, dining reservations and activities we will be doing with 4 different options incase I don't get CRT the day I try.

I have a disney folder filled with the menus and comparable prices between what we would spend or if we use the DDP.

I speak a new language (ADR's, CRT, WDW. DH. DS, DD, etc)

Everyone I know now knows how to save at WDW from renting DVC points to the DDP (they all hate me).

My kids are going to lose interest before we get there. Think what I can do in 16mths if I've done this much already? :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

I am usually sooooo obsessed witht the planning. However this year is different. My mom passed away a few weeks ago and I am having a very hard time getting things organized. I have some of the trip planned but not all of it. We will be there in about 46 days and usually I have everything planned at least 6 months out. I need to get busy.

As it is I have an obsession with planning things non-disney, so this is right up my ally! I have typed up sheets for every day of our trip basivcall every hour of our trip...even down to what snacks I will get with my snack credits and when....sad I know. I also have "back up plans" for certain things, like for a day at the water park or afternoon at the pool, i must have a backup plan if it rains!!!:rotfl: thats normal...right?

oh i also look at the menus where we are going to eat and have alread picked out my meal ahead of time

Glad to now my best friend and I aren't the only planning GEEKS out there!!!:woohoo:

We actually bought eachother the exact same gift for Christmas. . . . Passporters!!! :rotfl2: Good thing due to the holidays we decided to wait on one for ourselves!!!
We are constantly planning...we have our nine day stay planned out and things get added or rearranged all the time!!!!

How bad is my planning obsession?

We're not even going to Disney yet and I'm already asking for the Unofficial Guide, a Spiral to keep my notes in, and other stuff. It's driving my parents crazy!!

Reading this thread is such good therapy! Yes, I make a spreadsheet with the costs of the trip. No, I don't tell DH costs unless he specifically asks or when I have gotten discounts. Yes, I make lists of must-have ADRs. Yes, I have an itinerary for each day printed out but most trips now are pretty flexible once the park is chosen. I keep everything I need for planning a trip in a 3 ring binder complete with as many pictures of our resort as I can print out!

And I am bored and unhappy when I don't have an upcoming trip to plan.........Our most recent trip was this past October and over the holidays DH mentioned that he knew I always wanted to spend Christmas at Disney sometime. You don't need to say more to me! Quietly I began looking online and I knew that to win him over I'd have to get the right hotel quickly while he was in the mood! Yeah!

And so we're booked for next December but with retirement ahead and selling our house everything is somewhat tentative. But still I have a mission: planning a possible trip!!!!!!!

I love planning our trip. It is something that I think about OFTEN. How bad is your obsession?

Our trip is 7 months away and today I bought a 'spinner' for our DD at the DS. I put it away for our trip.
Also, I am always thinking about what we can do that we haven't done yet.
I put up my Disney Halloween decorations. Love it!

O
16 days away and i can't get enough info,,,even though this is our third trip to disney.....i can't get enough.......completely obsessed

How about this? Even when everything is planned, down to the last detail, I am still switching things just to be able to keep planning!

If I don't have a trip planned, I have to INVENT one. I'm desperate. I started being a vendor at scrapbook shows specifically to have an excuse to either be in Orlando/WDW or within a day of it. I just pulled one out of the hat for the end of February ("well, honey, it just so happens..." :lmao: ) It's a sick, strange addiction and I don't plan to seek a cure anytime soon. Oh, and Santa helped feed it by giving me 100 DVC points! :cool1:

Whew! I am glad that this behavior is completely normal... :thumbsup2 DBF and I are pretty obsessive when it comes to planning, that is why we are made for eachother  . We starting planning for our upcoming June trip last June while on a "vacation" to St. Louis. In an attempt to save some money, we skipped Disney for a year :scared1: BIG MISTAKE. While St. Louis was a nice short getaway from IL. we realized we missed Disney big time, so we basically starting planning while on vacation for our next vacation :rotfl:. Now we are about 5 months away, all our ADR's are set and our itineries are made which include every piece of possible information (including where to meet if the group gets split). We cant wait to spend our 5 year anniversary eating at Cinderella's Royal Table!! (that was planning on my part ;) ) Again, I am so glad this is normal behavior!!!

I enjoy planning a trip as much as going on it. Have already mapped out trips to WSW for Feb, April, October & December 2007.

How bad?
I find myself asking other disers how much they paid for souvineers to better buget.

I love planning our trip. It is something that I think about OFTEN. How bad is your obsession?

I have a HUGE red duffle bag ready for a WDW vacation for the five members of my family, which I packed THREE YEARS AGO.

...And yes, twice a year I make sure the clothes are :laundy: and are the correct sizes; I want to be ready to take that WDW trip--even at a moment's notice.

hey fellow disney pal....

we take off to go to WDW in onli 28 days!!! here are just a few of our planning obsessions,

**** we have bought a advent calendar, start opening a door 25 days before we go****

**** we have made a countdown calendar, starting at 100 days for us- up to you when to start, we simply laminated it and made some number and laminated them also, cut them out and changed the number being stuck on each day, helps the days pass by much much quicker!!!****

**** like many others we have planned each day and what to do in the parks ie...character dining etc. i have made a itineary using a excellent computer software called Disney mickey and friends print artist... ****

these are just a few ideas, hope this helps

Thank God I thought it was just me! my dh thinks I am:eek: crazy. We are not going until Thanksgiving. I do not want to wish my year away. however I need to plan!!!!! and SAVE!!!!!!!

:scared: haha these are funny to read...i used to be horrible myself but now im to the point where i just book my trip a little more than a month in advance so the wait for it doesnt eat me alive! lol the worst thing about disney is waiting for it to get here :surfweb:
