How bad is traffic coming in from LAX on Saturday morning vs. Friday evening?
Original plan was to spend night at an LAX airport since we were getting in late and then drive to DL in am. Second guessing it now when thinking of traffic.

Friday evening is generally better than average after about 7 pm. Saturday morning will almost always be an easier drive than Friday evening. Even with that being said, there shouldn't be a significant time difference between the two (perhaps 10-15 minutes). Your choice may be about how you feel about making the drive when it is late and you are already tired instead of how long the drive is.

My two cents, I hope it helps.

If it was me I would drive on Friday night if it is after rush hour. I would rather get to DL late and be there first think in the morning on Saturday. If you are delayed because of traffic I would think it would be less frustrating on Friday when you are probably just heading to bed then on Saturday when you would be counting the minutes until the Disney Magic starts. LA is such a big city that any traffic snafu can probably lead to a major back up at any time of day any day of the week. I live in Houston and after visiting LA I think the traffic problems are similar. I've sat stopped on the freeway in both cities during what should have been low traffic times. :crazy2:

I agree that even if Friday evening traffic might be a bit more than Saturday morning, go ahead & go to the DL Resort so you can start your day off already there rather than having to continue your journey to the Land.

I would absolutely make the Friday drive and just get to the DLR area that night. I would do that even if I were caught up in traffic. If you come in after 7, you will be fine. I would hate to have two check-ins and all the hassle of lugging baggage around. Not to mention that most places won't allow you to check in until after 3pm. What would you do with your bags on sat morning.
