From the posts I've read about buying bottled water or bringing Brita bottles, folks make it sound as if drinking the tap water at the resorts and the parks is just unthinkable. Is that true? How bad IS the water at WDW?

Our First trip in 2000 I never noticed a funny taste & we took plain water bottles that year and I usually have water with my meals. This time, Aug. 04, at the Plaza on MainStreet I noticed an slight but "icky" mineral taste, like well water. Asked for a lemon wedge with my water from then on and that covered it.
(and we didn't bother with water bottles this time, last time had cut back from 4, one per person, the first day to just a small squirting bottle to share)

I just got back and brought a filtered water bottle. I tried the fountain water right before I put it in the water bottle. YUCK!!!!!!! The filtered bottles were a lifesaver!

Some water was worse than others. The water at Epcot was GROSS but other water like at MK was bad but not as bad at Epcot.

I'm sure this is gonna get me put in the same category as the people who like Beverly, but I like Disney water. It's one of those things that tells me I'm "home". For the record, though, I don't like Beverly.

Kungaloosh!
Morticia.

Funny I didn't know they had water at WDW, we normaly stick to Epcot and beers around the world.

Just kidding.

In the past my wife and I have purchased bottle water because of the bad taste of Florida's water but I think we are going to try the Brita bottle water to save a few bucks this yeare.

We are all big water drinkers - healthier and cheaper than anything else. We have never had any problem drinking the local water. We have a 24 oz. sports bottle with insulated carrier. We freeze it part full overnite, fill it the rest of the way in the AM and just refill it during the day with fresh ice and water from any of the restaurants.

We drink the water from a regular bottle we bring. We bring a wide-mouth water bottle that we refill with ice & water throughout the day. We also have an insulated bottle holder with a strap which I carry.

The water at WDW is fine. In all of our trips we've never had a problem with it. Unless you're "bottled water dependent", I doubt you'll have a problem either... It meets or exceeds health department standards. Might there be a bit of a sulfur or mineral smell or taste to it? Yes. Is it "over-powering"... IMHO, no. When I was a kid in Indiana, we'd call the characteristics of WDW water as "well water". It was hard water and didn't have all that chlorine in it like "city water" did.

I didn't notice anything wrong with the water. maybe i was just blinded by the disney magic tho lol

IMHO, the water is ok to drink, but tastes much better with the brita bottles.....:drinking1 my dh referred to the unfiltered water as tasting like 'shore' water.......

I only drink filtered water from a tap (at home, or a friends home, where I can SEE the filter.) Other than that, when I take a vacation, I plan into my budget that I am going to stop for a drink or 2 to share maybe 3 or 4 times a day not including meals. At this time someone sometimes also wants an ice cream or a hot dog etc. The only thing I balk about is popcorn, as it is my least favorite of all treats. This wont be a prob anymore as DD just got braces and isnt allowed:p On vacation, I dont like to fuss over something so simple as a cold drink on a hot afternoon and thats itprincess:

unless you are a strict "Evian" drinker, you should be fine with the WDW water. We always fill our bottles right from the fountains or ask for a cup of ice water at the counter serve restaurants. We drink bottled as well as tap (Lake Michigan) water at home and are fine with it. I don't recall it having any horrible taste,,,,,,just depends on how particular you are. To me it is not worth luggining around a filter bottle but to each his own.....Have fun!

I am amazed that some think the fountain water is fine!

YUCK! :crazy2:

I do think that some fountains are worse than others but the ones that were worse were GROSS!! There was one in particular at Epcot that was absolutely disgusting.

The water is awful!!! It's better cold than warm, but I can barely stand to brush my teeth or shower with it, let alone actually drink it!!! The sulfur taste is overwhelming and disgusting!

Get the Brita bottles--they make a world of difference!

After seeing post after post of people saying the water was fine I was begining to think it just might be me that didn't like the water. Glad to see I am not the only one that dislikes the Orlando area water supply. :teeth:

I'm another one that doesn't think the water is so awful. Yes, it tastes different than the water at home. But, the water at my brother's house tastes different than mine!! Has is made me sick to drink the WDW water? Nope. We have had water shipped to our resort. I don't think I'll be doing it anymore. I just can't stand that water bottle banging against me as I walk thru the parks. We use the fountains all the time. No problem.

There is actually a genetic basis to how we perceive taste. There are folks who are 'regular' tasters and those who are 'super tasters'. I suspect that folks who complain about the water are super tasters. The rest of us are regular tasters.

The water at WDW doesn't taste much different than what we have at home. But I have noticed people describing it as "well water" so maybe that's why. We have well water at home. If you're ok with well water and don't need the ultra chlorinated taste of city water than it should be just fine. For the record I hate the taste of the city water around here. It's like drinking water from a pool. We don't drink much from fountains (mom's scared of germs) but I've snuck some drinks from the fountains in WDW and it tasted fine to me.

another one who says YUCK! i don't go anywhere at wdw without my brita bottle.

The water at WDW tastes fine to us, but we lived in North Florida for many years. Now we drink Lake Michigan water and it is fine by us too. As far as people saying WDW water made them sick, I get Organic Style magazine and they had a review of many cities water last month. Orlando water was rated very highly for quality, low bacteria, ect. Of course, Disney is like their own little city with seperate utilities and such, but you would think they still follow the same rules for purifying, ect......Lacee PS, I am really not that picky about much so maybe that has something to do with it. We have also lived all over, maybe people who haven't are more attached to their own water!!
