How bad is Mission: Space?

I would say that as a huge fan and lover of MS (it's one of my favortie rides in the whole world), there are a few things that people need to remember about the ride to enjoy it.
1. Don't ride it if you don't like tight spaces or are claustrophobic; it is meant to be a simulator to give a very realistic space vehicle; if you look at pictures of the space shuttle and aircraft cockpits, they are actually quite tight.
2. If you suffer from motion sickness, don't go on the ride.
3. If you do go on the ride, DON'T LOOK AROUND unless you DO want to see how the ride works and that you are spinning. If you look straight ahead you'll be ok and make sure you don't close your eyes either.
3. Read the warning signs before you go on the ride, when in doubt don't do it. It's your choice.

On that note, I am sorry to hear that some of you have had a bad experience on this ride, it is absolutely wonderul and well done. I have to give kudo's to Disney for making this investment as it is a wonderful learning experience for those who want to know more about the US Space Program and they have excellent props, learning resource material and vehicles on display.
As well, Gary Sinese does an awesome job in this ride que, which really provides that extra Disney touch. As I don't suffer from motion sickness or other detriments in regards to theme park rides (I'm a coaster junkie); those like me will find the ride exhilirating, exciting, educational, fascinating (especially if you're a space enthusiast) and wonderful; this ride truly is a mondern technological work of art and thank you to Disney & NASA for showing us this part of your world.

I have rarely ever gotten sick on any type of ride. M:S made me and DH queasy. Never got sick, but we had to chill out for a few hours. I might try it again when it's not hot and we're not super busy running around. Fatigue and heat may have something to do with it. But we skipped it on our most recent trip, and it may be a long time before we decide to do it again.

I was actually just about to post why Disney even has a ride like this if so many people get sick on it but thanks to your post I know why they keep it around. Unfortunatly I am claustrophobic AND prone to motion sickness (although I can do coasters with HUGE drops---no problem) so riding MS would not be on my must do list. I guess I'll just have to live vicariously through those who are able to ride it!

Another question...is the ride similar to those carnival 'Gravitron' spinning rides where you stick to the wall? I am thinking its the same premise as I hear it is one large centrigue and each 'pod' spins around really fast...just curious as to the mechanics of the ride :wizard:

I suffer motion sickness on drops and coasters and this ride is nothig but pure fun. No sickness, no dizziness. Went on again and again. Just weightlessness experience. We love it including at the time 5 yr old dd. Fantastic technology only Disney could do.
