How bad is Jersey week?

We have been going that week for a few years now (our kids have off 2 days that week). It is definitely more crowded. I would rank the crowd level at 7 or 8. We really noticed the crowd increase at the FWF. I'm pretty sure late Sept. will be less crowded.

We were there for this week just last year, and with a few exceptions we stayed at the most recommended park. Yes, there were crowds; but you could also find pockets or places where it felt like there was no one else around. I've been in July, and these crowds were NO WHERE near that madness. Was it as empty as when we went in January? No. But it was very manageable using smart touring strategies. And, when you know you're heading into a crowded place (like, say, WS for food & wine fun), just adjust your mindset. You'll still have fun!

This is the best description I've seen that helps me - thanks :) We have gone in July the past few years and it has been crazy compared to the late September crowds we were used to. This year we're heading down that week (but we're from Ohio!). It just happens that the kids have 2 days scheduled off that week so they will only be missing Monday, Thursday and Friday from school.

So we have the choice to go 10/30-11/6 or 11/14-11/21.
Low crowds are my must haves! If I have to miss MNSSHP as well as F&W Festival and go 11/14 I will.
Tell me the truth people! LOL
(and my family is from NJ, I'm just PA born) So I take no offense.

I would never opt to miss food and wine. 10/30-11/6 you should be fine as you will leave right before the Wine and Dine half marathon. We go during Jersey Week every other year and love it! Lower crowds and more pleasant weather than summer.

Honestly, I feel Disney is getting crowded year round. My brother and his family went in September and I was very surprised at the wait times at parks. I think this has to do with the free dining offerings but could be wrong.

We were there for Jersey Week in 2013 and since we normally go at slow times, the moderate crowds didn't thrill me lol. Honestly though, you probably won't even notice. There were only a few days where I could really tell, and food & wine would totally be worth it anyway! Rest assured, it's nothing like summer. (And since DH is from Kentucky, we didn't have any problems with people asking if we were from Jersey :rotfl:)

We went during "Jersey Week" in 2007, although I had no idea at the time that was a "thing". It was not a great week for us. We were not expecting the crowd levels and (unfortunately) it ended up being unseasonable cold while we were there. It was the first and last time we went in November. We stick to May and early October now for our FL vacations.

I actually say I'm from SOUTH Jersey... don't want anyone to think I'm from the North (and by North I mean anything above Trenton).

And unless you are from Cape May County, you ain't south. And if you are from Cape May County, your ain't South Jersey 'till you are south of the last bridge. (Tipping hat to Cape May residents!)

Yes, OP, we will have these loud conversations while waiting in line for the bus, boat, etc. If you can take our fast walking and loud talking, you will LOVE it.

This piney says, wrong. ;) (Well, about the "south" part. Not about the conversations in line. That's ALL TRUE.)

That's on the bridge over the Cape May Canal. :tilt:

It's taylor ham and the Mets!!!!
Anything south of exit 140 is south jersey to me Bergen/Essex lifelong resident

Anyway I will be there again for Jersey week the crowds are manageable and just stay away from F&W on marathon weekend and you will be good

The "tone" of the week is what I think can make it seem way more crowded. We're a friendly lot, and we haven't figured out that not everyone wants to get to know us and our ways. We eat. Dine. Reservations can be tougher to snag cause we'll eat. Early. Very late. Doesn't matter. There will be kids in the bars. Because a lot of folks in Jersey can't think of a better combination: loud bar, potentially loud kids, alcohol -- perfect together. (I think it used to be our state motto.) And finally, if you think it's wrong when a 6 yr old walks smack into brightly colored trashcan and the parent says, "What is wrong with you?" before asking if the child injured him/herself, then you should probably choose a different week.

The above are generalizations, of course. :flower3:

Taylor ham and Yankees! I'd say below 140 is central, and below 100 south.

Lets agree to disagree on baseball. But I have friends in Clark which is exit 135 and they claim that there is no such thing as central jersey LOL

This is awesome. I don't know if I would say "whats wrong with you?" it would be more like. How did that feel? Ya happy now? then see if they were injured. It really is a fun time to go
