How Bad Is It To Check In On Sunday?

We had an easy time at 9:30 am Sunday the 17th. No lines and we got into a 2 BR immediately. We asked for Turtle Pond, but that would not be ready until the afternoon. We decided to go with the one that was ready in South Point and loved it.

Is this the worst day to check in (because lower points start sunday night)?

I have never had a problem checking in on Sunday. It is usually fast and the unit is ready.

We checked into BCV on 8/17 a little after 10:30 am. Check-in itself was not a long wait (got a Welcome Home). Our room was not ready and we were told to check back around 1:30. (we were not offered any other rooms that might have been ready). We had our suits, so we went to SAB. The room ended up not being ready until 3:00! Not that we were that upset about being at SAB, but had we known it would be that long, we might have opted to do mini-golf or something. We ended up spending more $ at Hurricane Hannas while our "beverages" brought from home sat in storage:rolleyes: ! Definately have a plan B in case the room is not ready! Natt

The only time we have ever checked is on Sunday and there has never been a problem. I should point out that 50% of the time our room has been ready when we arrived and 50% we waited for a few hours. We never had to wait in line more than 10 minutes and it was usually less than 10 minutes. One more point, I'm sure that the time of year you travel has a direct bearing on check-ins. We travel Spring, Winter, and Fall but not during the Summer. From what I've been reading lately on the boards it seems like the parks are pretty crowded right now.

I don't think you will have a problem.

To steal shamelessly from Dickens, when you check in on Sunday, "It is the best of times... It is the worst of times."On the one hand, I think you probably have the biggest room selection because wkends are the lowest pt for villa use (thanks to those hefty Fri/Sat pts costs). On the other hand, so many folks like to start their vacation on that low pts day (maybe only staying Sun-Fri, never even staying the wkend) or because it takes them the whole wkend to get to Orlando, and so the check-in lines can be daunting at times.

Life is full of trade-offs; checking in on Sunday is one of them. But our family still can't think of a better time to check in (except, of course, for RIGHT NOW.... ;) )

Thanks, I thought everyone was going to say it is awful! Both times we stayed at a moderate checkin took over an hour. Our last two trips we had 3 checkins (BWI, GF, WL) and they were very fast.

Our plane gets in about 2:30 so by the time we get bags, rental car and stop at the grocery store it should be after 4pm - so our room should be ready.

Just don't like those daunting lines with a 2 year old:rolleyes: Guess I could make DH check in while we check out SAB!!

Do you guys all check into DVC?????
We have almost always encountered long lines and NEVER has our room been ready. Not complaining, as I always expect it, but the op wanted to know.............

We checked in to BCV on Sunday August 17 around 1:15. We waited behind two other people, but the line went fast. We also received a nice "Welcome Home" from Hazel upon checking in. Our room wasn't ready, so we went to eat at Beaches and Cream (40 minute wait!!!). Our two bedroom was ready at 3:30, our studio was not ready until 5:30.

Good to know you all have had great luck in checking in on a Sunday. We arrive on Sunday, November 30 at OKW. We're excited to hear those words, "Welcome Home"

My experience has been that my room is never ready before 4:00 PM. I arrive early and check in. Your stuff goes to the storage area no matter when you arrive. It is later brought to your room when you call for it. I check in and then go to the parks or what ever. Do not hang around the lobby waiting for your room to be ready. Send anything that you do not want to carry around until 4:00 PM to the storage area.

We almost always arrive on Sunday, and have always found the lines to be short and fast. We like to take the earliest flight down check in and hit the parks. If our room is ready we go check it out, if not we just store the bags with bell services.

The DVC check in lines are NOTHING compaired to checking into a Las Vegas hotel on Sunday. They were unbelievable!

We always check in on late Sunday afternoons. I don't recall any problems...except one time when we checked in at AKL on cash.

We waited and waited for people who took what seemed like forever to get their room assignment.... When I finally got the counter, and without saying a word (except to say hello), they upgraded me :)

WE have never had trouble checking in at OKW, but I think this might be another of those "depends on which resort and what time of year" things. I know when we stayed the first 2 weeks of December two years ago, we waited for about 10 minutes to get an agent who was free to check us in. Sometimes, our room is ready when we arrive about noon, sometimes it isn't. AT any rate, it WILL be ready by 4, so we usually head to the parks and call at 4 to find out our room number. BTW, up until this year, we always checked in on Sunday and out 10 days later so we only had to do one full weekend. We have since discovered that airfares are better from our area on Wednesday and Thursday, so now we do that a bit differently.

We arrived at 10:00 AM on Sunday 8/17, and our two-bedroom BWV villa was all ready for check-in. We were at the parks by 11:00 AM. There seems to be no rhyme or reason.

We have checked in many times at OKW on a Sunday and it worked out just fine.

We have checked in many times on Sunday at OKW and there was never a problem.
