How bad is Disney tap water?

We don't like the water, so until this last trip I was packing water bottles in the backpack. Academy Sports and Outdoors had a Water Filter bottle- it works great. Now we just ask for a cup of water and put it in our filter (it's not big- a little bigger than a regular bottle of water) and it saves room in our backpack.:)

We've always drank the water (we're from michigan and have pretty good water where we are at, but we are used to well water when we travel north and much of the well water varies depending on location), and never had any trouble with it, so I wouldn't bother with bringing water.

Our last trip I brought a Britta pitcher and refilled bottles.

What a great idea! Much easier than shipping water, I imagine.

What about the ice, if you use the ice form a resort would it add the sulfer-y taste to it?

Could you tell me the name of this water bottle or add a link to where I can get one? I've been wanting to find a good one--thanks.

As has been mentioned, the water is nasty and hurts our tummies! We go for several weeks in July, so cold, bottled water is imperative. It's a cost of going on vacation, so we factor it into our dining budget.

FYI - Many TS restaurants use filtered water. If you ask, they will tell you if they do or not.

Good luck, Tiger :)

I'm another person who doesn't mind the water. We take down or buy some bottled water, keep the bottles and refill them at the water fountains while in the park or from the tap in the room. Then we chill the botttles in the fridge when in the room. I think drinking the FL water all depends on what your water is like where you live. Even my picky DH will drink it.

We bought bottled water in the past based on reading posts here.

The last trip we didn't have a stroller for the first time so we tried to cut down on what we carried around and decided to cut the bottled water. We had no trouble drinking water out of the water fountains and tap. We will never bother with bottled water again.

We've done both. We drive, so it's easy to bring a case of waters with us. This trip DH decided to save money he was not going to buy drinks with meals - just drink water. I know that normally at least one of us will order a glass of water with a meal. This trip the water was particularily bad with odor and taste. I guess the best answer is, the water can be bad, so go with your gut on what you think you will drink.

Yeah....even tasting it while I brushed my teeth was nasty.... Just buy a case at WalMart and dont' try the water... lol

Let me add though, that I noticed it tasted WORSE on property... at the parks and ASMu was worse than any off site hotel we stayed at...
Weird

I think the water at the resorts tastes nasty. Very weird almost salty tasting to me :confused3 I don't even like to brush my teeth with it. :crazy2:

I think it's all relative. I live in a city where the water is horrible so I love the taste of FL. water. My in-laws have well water so they think fl water is really bad.

Everyone seems to ship bottled water.

Do most people drink tap water or go with bottled?

I think it is fine. However, my DH and son will not even brush their teeth with it. We ship cases ahead of time! And OH, the soap has to be the really really strong type (dial, etc) to shower with.....:confused3
Me, no issues! Guess I am so DISNEY enchanted I notice NOTHING, :rotfl2:

The tap water in the Orlando area has a very strange taste (and smell) that my family is not accustomed to, and we dislike it very much. We even brush our teeth with bottled water when we are at WDW.

We got filter water bottles from here:

http://www.************.com/bottles.html

Got the 16oz sport bottles with level 2 filter. Loved it! Just refilled from the fountains and kept going. Filtered out the nasty smell and taste. Used the Disney water bottle lanyards to carry them with. DH won't drink the water there, and we hated buying water, even to have shipped there. So this was a great alternative!

Ok, not sure why the link didn't work. It is: pure water 2 go (all one word). From the main page, go to the drop down menu for their products and click on bottles. No, I don't work for them or anything. We used to use the Brita filter bottles, but can't find the filters anymore, so we switched to these...

All of the ice machines and carbonated drink machines on Disney property use filtered water -- if you get ice from a machine or any kind of fountain facility it will be filtered.

You can always get free filtered ice water from any snack stand or CS restaurant that sells fountain drinks in cups. The trick with doing this at CS restaurants is that it might take awhile, as you have to go through the ordering line to get it. (Just order a "large cup of ice water", and the cashier will ring it up as $.00., then you can go forward to the counter and claim it.)

Thank you, this is what I have been looking for! Will the Crystal Light mix-ins work with this or will they plug up the filter?
