How bad is Alaska Cruise in September?

A ship captain said that Alaska has only two kinds of cruising weather -- good, and tourists who are poorly dressed for the elements.

Or as the Germans say: Es gibt kein schlechtes Wetter, nur schlechte Kleidung.

There is no bad weather, just bad clothing.

As a Canadian, I would argue the two do not have to be mutually exlusive. One can have proper clothing for the weather but it still be bad weather. There is also some weather where it is possible to have proper clothing, but generally one should make the wise and safe choice and stay inside until the weather gets better ;-)

Fortunately for our Alaska cruise although some of the weather was pretty miserable, with the right clothing we still had a great time, enjoyed our excursions, and loved the cruise !

It was disappointing when fog, clouds and rain blocked the view of scenery on some days -- but we turned that around into kind of a game of looking for waterfalls (technically not called waterfalls, but I don't remember the term they used.... but basically, looking for the channels of water runoff due to the rain, and there were plenty of those, some of them rather spectacular !!), and being fascinated by the cloud formations and how they would flow/shapes and what they would and would not cover - there where some pretty wild ones !
