How bad is 7:10pm dinner during MNSSHP?

I wanted to do a BBB appointment and dinner at CRT with it for DD... but the only BBB I can get is 3:25pm so that puts CRT at 7:10pm...

The reservation guy was like... "WOW you don't want to have dinner then... DURING the party? OMG!"

Is that really that bad? :confused3

If you are ATTENDING the party, that dinner would be very, very expensive.
(Considering the lost time from the party.)

If you are NOT attending the party, and they will ALLOW you to make a
reservation at that time without a party ticket... you'll be just fine.

We are planning to attend...

That's what I'm wondering, this seemed to answer it. I guess that CM knew what he was talking about! :thumbsup2

As Robo says, that's a very expensive dinner. CRT is already expensive in its own right, but in order to eat dinner at 7:10--which is when the party starts--you'll actually need a part ticket to have dinner inside MK. On top of that you will have wasted about an hour and a half of valuable party time eating at CRT, missing out on short lines of the more popular character groups.

Many people would not want to waste valuable party time at a sit-down dinner. Party tickets are pretty expensive and there are a lot of special party-only things to do such as photo M&G with ALL seven dwarves, the princesses with their princes, specail magic shots at Haunted mansion, the villains stage show, the wonderful Boo to you parade and Hallowishes fireworks. Notice I don't have a single ride in that list? And I didn't include the trick or treat trails.
So there is certainly a lot to do, and a sit down dinner will mean you won't get to everything.

On the other hand, you should do what is most important to your family.

What Robo said. LOL

But really, I'm assuming you were going to the MNSSHP. If so, then yes, that's not a good choice because you're "wasting" party time eating.

But if you weren't going to the party, and they'll let you stay in the park and make that reservation, then it's a great idea. LOL

Can you make an ADR for a party night without a party ticket? I think that if I was planning this, I would get that information, because I had heard that if the ADR was prior to party start, it would be honored. If it was from 7PM on, you would not be seated I also have heard that folks who are in the restaurants when the party begins, but who do not have a ticket are escorted out after the meal is completed. I do not know for sure, but I would not want any confusion.

From 7 PM on you will not be seated without a party ticket.

It's smart touring stratgegy to have an ADR as close to 7 PM as possible, to maximize your time in the park before eating, But you will indeed be escorted out after.

OP, if you are attendint the party........ keep checking. It's highly likely an earlier time will open up between now and then.

Agree with PPs. We try to eat BEFORE going to the party - we don't even like to do QS during the party because of the loss of party time. With party activities not starting until 7pm and most people burning out by the time the fireworks go off, it's not really that much time.

Twice I have had ADRs and a party in the same night. We did CP at 5:30 (MVMCP) and Ohana 5:30 (MVMCP) OMGoodness trying to get in MK at 7 was horrible after that I never planned them in the same night. A party is exciting on its own without doing a TS that night too. For CP (that was when they'd close the park at 6 and reopen at 7) back then they kept Tomorrowland open for partygoers.

The BBB hairdos can easily last several days, so if it works with your schedule and you can get another appointment, you could always do BBB on an earlier day, and just have your DD dress up again for the party. You could even get her pixie dusted at Castle Coture for free.

Be aware that this depends on your child. My DD will not go to bed until all the BBB goop is washed out of her hair the day she does BBB. Also, she is tender headed and the year she did the Princess bun hairstyle, she was begging me to take it down after a few hours because it was making her head hurt. I have seen girls that have clearly had their hair in for days, but some kids won't do that at all.

In any event, the CM was right you definitely don't want that ADR. Even if you could get a ADR before the party, you should consider that if you want to see the most popular characters, that people get in line well before the party starts. Otherwise, the line gets huge and stays huge all night and you can spend a lot of party time in it. People will line up for the 7 Dwarves around 6:00 p.m. For Jack and Sally, last year we got in line at 5:30, and we were not at the front of the line-we still had to wait about 15 minutes once they came out. The Princesses only meet with their Princes during the party, so last year people were creating a separate line for that around Fairytale hall at about 6:30. You really want to maximize your party time, especially if you like the characters and want to meet several during the party. If you are going to meet characters, you want to be in line for one before the party starts so you waste the least amount of time in line. If you don't care about characters at all, you would be okay with a 5:00 or even a 5:30 ADR- you just want to be sure you have your wristband before you go in the ADR (they start passing them out at 4:00 and usually there is a place in Tomorrowland in addition to near the front gate). Last year we did MNSSHP twice. The first night we did Jack and Sally. The 2nd night we did Be Our Guest at 5:25 p.m. as it was the only ADR I could get there all week. We got out about 10 minutes before the party started and for a 2nd party it worked out well as we had not seen Donald and Daisy in their Halloween costumes the first night, so we were right back near where they were and were 3rd in line for them. We never did get to see the Dwarves though because their lines were too long during the party.

Bell - Which BBB location are you using? I ask because you can get into MK with a party ticket at 4:00. If your appointment is at BBB in MK you'll need to use a day on a regular park ticket to get in at 3:25 for your appointment. No problem if you are going to the DTD BBB.

On our party day we had dinner at CRT at 3:50. We used a regular park ticket to make rope drop, rode rides until about 12:00, went back to the condo, rested and came back at 3:15ish. We used our regular park ticket to re-enter for our ADR. After dinner we stopped by a party station and picked up our party wristbands and stayed til close. It was an expensive way to do MK, but we only had a 4 day trip and were focused on all things Christmas. It helped that our party tickets were covered by my Disney Rewards dollars.

We made an ADR for Tony's at 6:30. We aren't planning on visiting characters- our plan is to watch the parade and ride rides. Hoping everyone else is in line to meet characters so we can ride rides all night in short lines.

I would think what your family wants to do during the party would matter the most. I would consider moving the ressie to maybe 6:15 or something but for us at least- missing part of the party is not an issue for us.

also- with a 3:25 ADR time for BBB you would need to use a day ticket. You will not be allowed in before 4pm with a ticket.

Boy this can surely turn into a VERY expensive day

Did I miss something? Did the OP say she wasn't planning on having a park pass for that day? She did say that she is attending the party.
So, would I spend that time eating at the start of the party? Probably not. Are you sure there isn't an earlier spot available? If there is, grab it. If your BBB slot is at 3:25, you should be out by 5. Or does the dinner have to booked in conjunction with the BBB appt?

But, if you aren't all that interested in seeing those specific characters, then go for it. As long as you're done eating for the parade and fireworks. I have found that even at the start of the party, the lines for some characters is outrageous. No way am I spending an hour in a line to get a photo with a character! Not when I've spent that kind of money for a party ticket!!!!
