How are you spending St. Valentine's Day ?

We won't be doing anything extravagent as we don't see the point in spending too much money and as we are both Spurs fans and the game is on we will be sat at home watching that then out for a meal I expect :)

We have a romantic weekend planned which coincides with DD's birthday.
So the troops have decided lots of time in the hotel pool, penny machines at the beach, cinema, Pizza Hut and Jimmy Chungs.

Oh and we are all in the same room :lmao:;)

Plenty of time for alone time when they are all grown up :goodvibes

We will be driving to DLRP! :goodvibes Can't wait.

I am not keen on Valentine's day, (overpriced nonsense!), and I get cross coz the shops are so full of Valentine's cards that DH always struggles to get me a 'nice' birthday card - shops seem to put all other types of cards away somewhere til Valentines is over.

I have no idea to be honest, the children are with their dad this weekend and I have made it very clear that valentines is to be acknowledged this year to DBF lol, so I will let you know. I am so soppy it's ridiculous and totally sucked in to the whole valentines thing, let's hope I am not bitterly dissapointed by Sunday night :-( next year he's let off the hook if he gets it right this one hee hee

I am working a night shift on the 14th and DH is working a late shift so no Valentines celebrations for us : (

We will just postpone the day and have an "alternative valentine's day" away somewhere when it's warmer and we are both off.

Kids on the other hand have plans ... DD is cooking :rotfl: a meal for her boyfriend and has bought him cards and choccy. DS is taking his girlfriend out to dinner (first girlfriend .... he's only 16) and has made a card and bought her prezzies using his Xmas money .... he definitely has a romantic streak :lovestruc.

:thumbsup2We are staying in;) to begin the day Brussels Pate on toast with breakfast blend tea (crumpets for Ethan), Beef Steaks and the works for lunch and Raspberry Pavlova with double cream for Sunday tea then later a bottle of Piper Heidsieck champagne for the two of us to share while we watch a film.
It's still cheaper than going out for the night and we don't need a childminder.

DH is off after lunch driving up north for a course on Monday so no romantic day for us :lmao::lmao:

We only tend to exchange cards these days.

I will be more looking forward to the following week ~ half-term and a whole week off work!! :cloud9:

I HATE valentines!

We don't usually do anything as it's all just card manufacturing hype. We don't usually buy cards I just happened to see a really funny one which I know will make DH laugh!

My DH text's me every day to tell me he loves me so I don't need a piece of card one day a year to tell me that!

For single people it's a nightmare with pressure from people around them asking if they got cards etc. My daughters have gone to a school Valentine disco tonight and 4 of their freinds came for tea before they went. Already at 7 years old they were discussing who had cards and how many they had got? My two hadn't got a clue what they were talking about!

I never got a valentine card until I met my husband and I was 26! There used to be 6 if us living at home when I was growing up and there would always be 5 cards on the sideboard. I would get teased every year by my family and I have to say it never upset me but I did get bothered by friends making comments

I'm definitely the "bah humbug" of Valentine's!

We dont usually do anything other tha exchange cards. This year will be the last year just the 2 of us before the baby comes along so we are just going to spend a nice cosy evening in at home - DH cooking for a change and watch a DVD.

I'm not a big fan of red roses so DH usually gets me some daffodils as i love those. No champers for me either :)

I've got some special sirloin steak and I'm cooking DW a nice meal with pepper sauce and lyonaise potatoes with a nice bottle of Rioja Reserva to wash it down :)

I can see me having to dress up in a Tigger costume for the night ;)

I went to M&S today and indulged in their bargain £20 valentine dine in:goodvibes I got scallops for starter (dh's fave), steak and chips, champagne and strawberry soufles, small box of chocs and a bottle of sancerre:goodvibes DIET?!??! What Diet?!?! It's been a hell of a week ::yes::
We'll be having it Saturday night as we have a family dinner on Sunday:thumbsup2

Probably at Islands Of Adventure....:p......Is Valentines Day a big thing in USA?

It's exactly the same over here in the states as you are all discussing on here. Pretty much all the same sentiments. Some didn't get them in school, some hate it as a card holiday, some love it, some makes big plans, some don't. Exactly all the same as all of the posts on here.

The anniversary of our first date 30 years ago is only a month away but valentines day seems to pass us by these days! It's a bitter sweet day as it's also the anniversary of my mums's death (she was 43 - 28 years ago) so we've never been big valentines celebrations people. This year my dad (who's 84) is taking us all out for a meal at lunchtime - so it will be nice to be with family members on this sort of special day!
