How are the waters on the NY to Bahamas sailing

I love the idea of cruising out of New York to the Bahamas (last year sailed from NY to Noca Scotia and loved not needing to fly anywhere to cruise Disney). My only concern is how choppy the waters are as you cruise down the eastern coast. Not sure whether the ship stays fairly close to the coast and therefore less choppy water.

We have sailed from Boston to Bermuda and once you get further out into the open Atlantic the boat tends to rock quite considerably.

I understand that weather may play a factor, but wasn't sure whether anyone has done this itinerary in November and what their experience may have been.

I would be interested to know as well, if anyone has sailed from New York in November. I asked this on a different thread as well. Interested to know how the days at sea were and if it was warm enough on deck to use the pools. TIA

I did the itinerary in May and it was still chilly out in the Atlantic...very windy the first sea day. I am pretty sure we sat by the pool the second sea day. November may be very chilly sailing down to Bahamas. The seas were no more rocky than other cruises I have been on. I do remember leaving NYC that particular trip was extremely foggy once we passed under the Verrazzano Narrows bridge. Could not see a thing!!!

I am doing the 10/14 out of NYC to Bahams/WDW so will post my "sea" experiences and weather....while not November it may help.

The fog horn was sounded every few minutes. Not all of my cruises out of NYC were that foggy....others had no fog at all.

Hi, I too will be cruising in Nov 2018, I'm getting the idea that the weather won't be too friendly out of N.Y. to Bahamas until you get pretty well south. Also hoping no hurricanes that time of year. Would be a bummer if you had to wear a winter coat for part of your cruise.

I would just bring layers for the weather... it can really vary in November even in NY. In 2015 it was around 70 until the end of the month! It can also be in the 40's or even colder and snowing. Typically that doesn't come with some regularity until January but I would be prepared.
Florida can also be a mixed bag from Nov to March.
From cool to hot. I'm sure no matter what you'll have a great cruise, but bring sweaters :)
So jealous I wish I was going on one of these cruises! Only sailed once out of NY (Anthem) and loved it.
Hope it's an amazing sailing for you guys :(

We've sailed out of Galveston in early January, and I'm thinking it will be similar. Rough waters and chilly on deck for the first day or two . But we'll pack some fleece and wear layers. It'll be worth it! We're so excited!!

You should have great weather in October... especially in Florida and Bahamas. Not too hot but very nice high 70 to low 80s.
We were going to go on the Oct 14 sailing but my son's hockey team had an important tournament scheduled over that weekend. Well it got cancelled 3 weeks ago, but we already went to WDW instead!
Have fun!

Not exactly the answer u are looking for . But we sailed out of cape liberty in April , on Anthem of the seas, the first two days were chilly, our first port was San Juan though. Sailing was much rougher and we could definitely feel like we were on ship.

We sailed out of NYC in August a few years ago. While I can't answer the weather question I can tell you that all 8 of us were nauseous the first day/night of the cruise. My daughter and I are seasoned cruisers and no cruise has affected us the way that one did. I'm apprehensive about booking another cruise out of NYC because of our experience.
