Hello- Can anyone tell me about the strollers that are for rent at MK? Are they umbrella type or not, do they recline, do they have something to pull over for shade? anyone know? thanks!

There are some differences but from what I remember pretty much the same. I think the AK & MGM ones have nicer strollers, but all are the hard plastic bottoms (which are not uncomfortable from what my kids say) and all have sun shades. I love em!

They are molded plastic (think little tikes :flower: ). I dont think any of the parks have reclining ones. From what I could tell last trip, they were real sturdy for the bigger kids, but I dont think a baby would be comfortable napping in one. One advantage to the plastic is when it rains you can just towel dry it, whereas a cloth seat would be soaked all day.

Hope this helps you

Oh, that's too bad, I wanted my son to nap in the stroller, but they do sound very uncomfy. Is it ok, to bring your own stroller, anyone know?

Yeah, you can totally bring your own stroller. We are. There are things to consider though. Using the bus service you will need to CARRY the stroller onto the bus. So you will want one that collapses well and isnt too heavy! I also would want to make sure that you stroller pushes easy, as the parks are really big. But the big advantage of bringing your own to me is: not waiting in line for the stroller at the parks, being able to use your stroller at the resort and airport, and having one that your child is use to. If my son were older, we would likely rent one at the parks rather than bring our own, but since he will only be 23 months, I would be more comfortable with ours. We are taking our graco travel stroller, it reclines and has a basket and sunshade, but is really light and compact. We have used it as a second stroller since he was born so he is very comfy in it.

I tried to copy and paste a photo of the strollers in the parks for you, but then I got concerned about copywrite laws, but there are pictures of the strollers at www. allearsnet .com

The Picture is dark but this is what they look like, a few blankets and they actually arent bad my younger one fell asleep in it often.

and yes you can bring your own

We rented a double-stroller for my 5 year old and 2.5 year old. They apparently liked it, and we found it very convenient, as well. They were all molded plastic, which, as someone else said, made it very convenient when there was rain or spills. I think they all had some type of sunshade, but it's possible there was one park that didn't and I'm just not remembering correctly.

My wife and I thought long and hard about renting versus bringing our own. We love our double stroller, which is actually a sit and stand model, but in the end we elected to not have to mess with it on the buses, dragging it up and down the steps at CBR, etc., and we weren't disappointed.

I wouldn't worry too much about lines. I waited in line the first day when I paid for a week's worth of rentals. They gave me 7 tickets, and after that each time I rented I avoided the long "pay" line and instead went to the short and quick-moving "pick up" line, where you simply hand your pre-paid ticket to the CM and you're swiftly on your way.

All the parks have different strollers (I think the photo is Epcot, maybe MK--dark picture). I don't think MGM's are too bad (more a jogging stroller), but I wouldn't put a small child and definetly not a baby in any of the others. Storage area is small to nil, so if you have a diaper bag, there really isn't a place to put it. I'm not sure, but I think allearsnet.com has more info and pictures.

Another option for you and one we use is to get a rental stroller for A Baby's Best Friend (www.abbf.com) We enjoy the clean and comfortable strollers they offer, and at a much better price than the park strollers. Also, it is there at our resort luggage room wrapped in clear plastic and waiting for us. We use them for a lot of other items too that are just as nice.

Have fun!

MGM has a sturdy umbrella stroller while MK, EP, and AK have molded plastic. We take a pillow for the molded plastic ones, and my kids have all been very comfy in them. We had to use a dbl stroller as a wheelchair for an older child, so we put a pillow on the seat and another to use for his back or side. The only bad thing is there's no shock absorber, so you feel every bump. He was in pain, so that's why I know. If it's convenient to bring your own, and you like your stroller, I'd save my money and do that rather than rent.

Does anyone know where I can see more pictures of the Disney strollers?

:thanks:

We always bring our own stroller. I don't like the hard plastic ones that you can rent. At least for my younger children. If you had older children who will mostly walk, but want to "stroll" sometimes, I think they are better. When we were there last time, I was surprised by the number of VERY NICE strollers that we saw there. Maclarens, Pegs, Phil & Ted E3's, Bugaboos, etc. I was very slightly worried about my nice stroller being stolen, but all my friends assured me that it wasn't really an issue (one of them being a former CM).

Two tips:
1) We have two kids and brought two single strollers instead of our double. Our double is one of those huge tandems and a hassle to fold and bring onto the busses. Also with two, we could separate if we wanted to.
2) I tied a very brightly colored scarf (or piece of scrap fabric) on each stroller's handle. This made the stroller really stand out in the stroller park area. It made it much easier to find our stroller when we exited a ride/restaurant/attraction.

Hey that's perfect! I had found some on the allears site after I posted, but these give some additional views. I didn't know about themouseforless site, either, so I'm looking forward to seeing what else they talk about.

Thanks!

p.s. you leave in a few weeks? how lucky!! :woohoo:

we are just a little excited!!! This will be our first vacation with the girls. They are almost 3 and almost 1! :)

Have a FANTASTIC time!

Have you been to WDW before? Are you staying onsite? I am braving a trip without DH this time. Hopefully all will go well...

I have been there 4 times. I took DH for the first time in 2002 and he can't wait to take the girls. We are staying at the all star music. I just could not handle the renting a car, car seats and the list goes on so onsite was the best option. :)

Good luck with your trip without DH!!
