We're 8 days out from take off......how are the crowds ....we're from NYC - school doesn't start until after Labor Day --- have the crowds thinned out since many kids are back at school...................either way, can't wait -- crowded or not! :rotfl:

We were there from 8/7 thru the 12th. I honestly didn't find the crowds to be too bad at all. We would always get to the parks early, take afternoon breaks and go back in the evenings.

Just got back on the 11th, and the crowds were not bad at all. I enjoyed the mid-day showers, which helped clear out the parks.

Just back this morning. Maybe i expected worse, but crowds were not bad at all. Epcot is more crowded, no doubt due to Soarin (which was great by the way) but with fastpass and careful day to day strategy, it really wasn't bad. I've seen the parks and restaurants much more crowded on my nov. and dec. trips.

was awesome at MGM! Well, the heat was gross, but the crowds were no problem! The longest wait was 20 minutes, and that was only once! We hit almost everything in 6 hours. It was great!
Have a great time!

getting more & more excited guys!!! thanks for the great updates .... I know the weather is gonna be hot, hot, hot but we go every year in August so we're used to it --- duck into a gift shop spend $30 on stuff our kids don't need, followed by an indoor ride like Pirates of the Caribbean, then an outdoor ride like Splash Mountain ...perhaps a snack afterwards ....then when we're all tuckered out -- back to Stormalong Bay at the Beach Club for a schwimmer, schwimmer  ....life is good....

We just got back and the crowds were nothing like I expected! We never waited longer than 20 min and that was the 2nd day and not getting to MK till after 5pm---our first day we arrived at MK at opening and managed to ride almost everything---and still see cinderebration and belles garden and get a ton of autographs!! We did encounter alot of rude people--our longest wait our first day was 10-15 min and that was later on during the day. As for showers--it rained on the 8th--there was an expected storm on the 9th that never came through and the 10th didnt rain at all or the 11th--but we werent at the parks on the 11th--mainly character meal, rest and get packed up to head out. It was alot of fun--just have a game plan and stay cool! The heat didnt even bother us until the 11th, that felt like the hottest day of all!!!

Thanks guys for all your input -- we go every X-mas and the crowds are bad, but we still have loads of fun --- less crowds in August sounds great .... who cares how hot it is -- as long as Mickey's in town... :wave2:

I was there 8/4-8/10 and found the crowds VERY managable. Rain is your friend - just get some ponchos. We saw people streaming to the exits when it rained/stormed.

The biggest thing for us was just getting to the parks early. We pretty much had MK done by about 1pm after getting there for the rope drop. Also, we did go to the EMH (eve) and found them to be be managable with the exception of MGM, which was a nightmare. We watched the 11pm Spectromagic parade at MK on 8/8 or 8/9 in Fronteirland and the street was almost empty. We were right against the rope with no one else near us, it was great.

I agrre w/ everyone else. We were there from 8/7 to 8/14, and only once or twice did we consider any park "packed." No problem getting on anything other than Soarin', which always had a big wait.

I am worried about the crowds starting this Sunday 8/21 with the "free" dining plan begining that day!!

Just got back, too (8/8-8/12) and the crowds were not bad at all. I had read a lot of the horror stories before we left about how it was terribly crowded and couldnt even move so maybe I was expecting worse, but I didn't find that at all. We never had a wait longer than 20 minutes for a ride and even then that was once-most of the stuff was just walk right on.

A CM said that it usually starts to thin out the same week the kids go back down there. (we are in NJ and also start after Labor Day-we have one "orientation 1/2 day" the week prior) Don't know how true that is but there you go!

We arrive on the 24th, and I'm not too concerned. Disney recently REDUCED their park hours for that week, which indicates that they expect fewer people than they hoped.

So for us it's - hope for the best, and plan for the worst!

We just got back from disney last week and the crowds werent that bad. They were managable and everybody was friendly, no pushing and shoving or line jumping.

Supposedly, last week was one of the busiest, most crowded time, but we had no problems whatsoever!
