I have been trying to get a room at SOG for June with no luck, so now I am thinking about the end of Aug. I really didn't want to do August. So how are the crowds really at the end of August. I know it will be very hot! We went in Oct. and I thought the crowds would be small, but it was packed.

I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks,

October has become very popular lately. Many more people are starting to go then. With the exception of Labor Day weekend the end of August is usually pretty moderate in crowds. Not going to be empty-- but won't be wall to wall either.

We've gone many times from the middle of August till the end of August. As Kilee said above, crowds are manageable, especially since the start of FastPass.

Most schools in the southern part of the US start up again in mid-August, so the crowd levels at the end of August are MUCH lower than they are at the beginning of August.

We always go in August. It is pretty crowded, but it's not as bad towards the end of August, since that's when a lot of kids start going back to school. The lines are pretty long but it's not as bad when you use a lot of fastpasses.

We've gone in Aug twice and the crowds are heavier then when we've gone in May.

Stay on site, go early in the am, take an afternoon break, make an evening ps, and stay late in the park. The heat isn't as bad as you might think, cause it rains alot.

We have Fla resident AP and the month of Aug is a blackout period for us, which means lots of people coming, please stay home.

When the kids were still in school, we always went the last week before Labor Day. I think it was a great time to go. Less crowded than early summer but not so empty that they cut the hours drastically. We would always do the early opening, even if we switched parks after regular opening hours. We would head back to our resort about 12-1 pm. for some pool time and head back to a park about 4 or 5 p.m. This was back when they still did E-nights. We would almost always do those as well.

I loved going in August. It was always warm enough to swim. We didn't have to pack clothes for a wide assortment of weather. Considering the time of year, we never experienced a lot of rain either. I remember one trip in August, our only two week trip :sunny: it rained a total of 45 minutes the whole trip, started when we got off the bus at our resort, by the time we had changed to swim suits the sun was out again.

We have been in august always towards the first half (had to be home for football starting around 15th) It is crowded and hot but if it is the only time you can go you will still have fun but be aware of what it will be like.

I agree with the general consensus on this thread, end of August is great, HOT, HOT, HOT!!! but the crowds are very manageable, crowded but not so bad because it is very spread out, ok to deal with, nothing like the first part of the summer at all, we go every year at the end of august.

We Are Planning Our First Trip To Wdw The Last Week Of August. Hoping Hurricane Season Doesn't Disappoint My Dd4

If you go the week before Labor Day (last week of August) when do the Labor Day crowds start to appear? Just for the weekend? We are trying to decide if we should bite the August "bullet" or take the kids out of school a few days the last week of October.

TIA

DS13 & I will be at WDW Aug 13-27 - not planning on entering the parks until Aug 16th - we'll then take a commando approach for 4mornings then our 2nd wk plan on pools in the morn/parks at night

I have always found the crowds in august to be very sweaty and somewhat smelly.
