How are the crowds in October?

We just booked our vacation for October 2006. Does anyone know how the crowds are then? Also what is the weather like then? I would think still warm but maybe cooler at night?

The crowds are not bad at all. Weekends will get crowded. :Pinkbounc

It depends on when in October you are going. Right around Columbus Day tends to get a bit crowded. The rest of the month is pretty moderate to low in crowds. In 2003 we did the very end of the month, then in 2004 we did the very start of the month. The early part of the month it was still in the low to mid 90's everyday and still very humid at night. I packed sweatshirts and pants, and we never once used them. In 2003, at the end of the month we had mid 80's in the day and then we did use long sleeves at night. The biggest thing I remember about that weather, was it was never sunny on that trip. We only had a little bit of rain, but it was really overcast everyday for 8 days.

We arrive on the 11th October and will be in the parks 12th, 13th, 15th & 16th. So due to the closeness of these dates to Columbus Day, should I expect big crowds or do you mean the parks are more crowded ON Columbus Day itself?

Thanks!

I'm also curious how crowds would be Oct 5th - 8th?
Think we're doing MK on 5th, MGM or Epcot on 6/7th (one the 6th, other 7th)

Edit: Florida weather is spotty, don't think anyone can say for sure whether how it will be, though pack it all is my suggestion. It could be 80, or 60, never know. Could rain, could shine.

I'm full of questions at the moment & curious about that too. If it is a warm day and I wear shorts to the parks, what are the nights like? When we are staying at a park until midnight, could the nights be really cold? Should I pack a pear of jeans to change into?

Generally--it's still warm and tho we've been in early Oct several times, never needed a sweater or jacket at night. Rain?? They don't even know from day to day, so there is always a "chance"--but most likely not.
Crowds--"manageable" by WDW standards.

We have been twice in Oct. The crowds werent bad but it was still pretty hot.

October is our normal time to go and we love it. Columbus Day weekend is what you need to watch out for...probably that Sat. thru Columbus Day itself. Other than that, the crowds are pretty light to moderate depending on the park you're at, what time of day, etc. We've been at both the end and beginning of the month. I have yet to see a difference in the crowds no matter when in October we've been. I know my memory might not be great, but its the same with the weather. We have had BEAUTIFUL weather every Oct. trip we've taken. It is usually pretty hot during the day, but cools down some at night. I don't remember ever having to wear long sleeves, and I only remember it raining once. No kidding. Even though I do believe the crowds in Oct. have picked up a bit, I still think its a great time to go. You'll have a great time! :flower:

We are going in Oct. 06 too! We own a timeshare at OLCC and have moved our week and will arrive 10/21/06. Can’t wait!
We have been many times in Oct. usually around the same week or week after and with careful planning, the longest we have ever waited in line was about 10 minutes.
This month, my mom and I subscribed to TGM and in addition to this site, UG and TGM, I plan on not waiting in any line over this amount of time.
We already know we want to do MNSSHP (have done before and enjoyed it) and…..GASP……promised my husband this time we can go to Universal. The poor guy asks every trip to fit it into our plans and I never can seem to find the time LOL
I do not like to be cold and pack shorts for the day and pants/sweats for the night although my husband and sometimes my kids stay in their shorts.
I guess we will be talking a lot to each other in the next year or so LOL
