My husband and I are not very crazy about buffets. Usally the food is dried out cause it sits there being heated to long. We chose some rest. that looked good but did not realize they were buffets. Of course that was before I found the dis boards. Are we going to be disappointed with the disne buffets. We were thinking because since so many people are eating at them the food won't be sitting around long. what are your thoughts on the buffets in general is there any you truely hated the food

Welcome to the Dis!

We've had very good experiences with the buffets at Disney. Boma dinner & breakfast are our favorites, Cape May Cafe dinner & breakfast (used to be favorite but Boma has taken 1st place now ;) ), 1900 Park Fare dinner (haven't had their breakfast) Crystal Palace breakfast (trying their dinner in Dec) ---all very good :thumbsup2

Totally agree...great fresh salads at Cape May, some of the best pork ribs around, and great clam chowder plus tons of other stuff, all very fresh...

Boma's is an adventure....hint...take a little tiny bit of every soup and salad and appetizer because they are so unique, but only a little or no room for all the prime rib, chicken, salmon, ribs and other great main dish foods....

I was never crazy about buffets either, but Disney buffets are nothing like Golden Coral. Everything is always fresh and yummy. My favs are Bomas and Crystal Palace. I love Ohanas, but that's a family style buffet where they bring the food to you.

I found the buffets to be better than at most restaurants that we've been too. They did a good job of replacing empty containers, kept the area clean. Cold foods were cold and hot foods were hot. The only buffet we did not like was H&V. We're going back to Clam Bake Cafe for dinner on this trip and we're going back to CP but this time for breakfast.

The one thing I have noticed is that the portions that are available on the buffet are fairly small, so that there is constant turnover. You're not going to see dried up food.

You'll be fine.

Does anyone know if they still have lobsters in a tank at the Cape May Cafe? Last time we were there, we found out that you could order as many freshly steamed lobsters as you wanted although that was never mentioned on the menu or any of the signs. The chefs at every buffet will do special requests too, as long as they're not busy. One time a chef made me a seafood pasta dish that was awesome and totally fresh. I think he was bored - it was January.

Buffets are a good bet.

we frequent buffets at home & hear ya on the dried up foods so common...

But at Disney we've never experienced that. We've done Crystal Palace, Hollywood & Vine, Cape May, and Tusker House...all buffets, all good. Also The Garden Grille (family style.) We found the foods well prepared, variety wonderful and everything quickly replenished. Nothing "sits" long at a Disney buffet...they're quite busy.

I would rank Disney buffets wayyyyy above a Golden Corral or Old Country Buffet, and at least a step above most good casino buffets.

We have done almost every single Disney buffet and the only one we did not like and will not return to is Hollywood & Vine. Our favorite is Crystal Palace for breakfast; we enjoy Chef Mickey's for breakfast or dinner. This year we are trying Boma for the first time and we are doing Cape May Cafe for breakfast (we've done dinner twice).

Hollywood and Vine is by far the worst, IMO.

Crystal Palace is my favorite for breakfast, with 1900 Park Faire and Chef Mickey's a close second.

Boma is a favorite for dinner (not to be missed) and breakfast.

You can't go wrong with any of them though except for H&V.

I've enjoyed every buffet we've tried. The ones that stick out are 1900 PF, Chef Mickey's & Crystal Palace for breakfast and Biergarten in Epcot for dinner.

We've done Boma (dinner), Chef Mickey's (breakfast) and Crystal Palace (breakfast). We were happy with all three and especially enjoyed Boma.

I think we'll probably try Cape May on our next trip since we're hoping to stay at Y&B.

We love doing the buffets. I've never found the food at any I've tried to be dried out. I've found some choices I didn't like but it was just me. We always have a good time trying all the different selections.

DH loves buffets, many choices and he can pig out :lmao:

The best ones are Beirgarten, Boma breakfast, Cape May breakfast, Cape May dinner (but not when they open the food is cold and dry-go around 6:30), CP breakfast and dinner.

We have gone to there places many times and have never been disappointed.

thank you so much I know when i picked restaurants i chose from the ones people talked about here a lot so we should be good. i am so excited to try all the food!!!!!!!!:rotfl:
