How are my dining assumptions?!

I need some help. I am trying to calculate the cheapest way for me to book my trip. I need to make a ton of assumptions and I just want to see how valid the following assumptions are (keeping in mind that 2 fairly light-eating adults are traveling):

1-The average counter service meal will cost $20 total for both of us.
2-The average table service meal will cost $70 total for both of us. This average takes into account that there will be a couple of times where we will likely split an appetizer, entrée and dessert. For all other table service meals it will likely just be entrée’s and drinks.
3-The average snacking (read: any food or drink not consumed at a table-service or counter meal) will cost $10/day total for both of us. We will be bringing most of our own water, so most of the snacks will consist of the occasional funnel cake, soda, ice cream, etc... I know this is a tough one because a lot of this will depend on moods/cravings/urges.

I have made many other assumptions, but I am pretty comfortable with those…the assumptions above I am not too comfy with.

The amount for the counter service is actually a touch high IMHO for a light eater who is not buying a soda. Ditto for the snacks but, then again, I don't really know your eating habits so this is just my $.02. That said, I think it's better to err on the side of caution and overbudget than underbudget. If you feel comfortable with these figures, go for it. Any left over $ is a bonus!

BTW If the thought is to save money, light eaters can always order from the kids menu at counter service places and that'll save a couple bucks.

I'm also thinking your assumptions are ample.

You are light eating adults. You can order the burger at a counter service place without the fries and save a buck. Or get one order of fries.

You'll likely find sit down portions so ample for light eaters that you will seldom each order two course.

Alcohol? If you drink you can jack up your bill, but $70 for a sit down seems very reasonable. We traveled with four adults, 2 children, no holds barred on the bill, drinks with every meal and only topped $140 at Narcoosees.

If you want to save more, eat your lunch sit down (it will be cheaper AND less crowded) and your dinner counter service.

You can check your price assumptions by following the dining links at www.allearsnet.com

I thought that they might be a little high, but w/o ever paying my own way down there, I don't remember what bills came to...so I thought I would ask. I think I might lower my table service a little to compensate a little more for shared meals..I have a feeling that we will be sharing a lot of meals.

Thanks for the help

I think that will be more than enough. For 4 of us (my youngest just turned 3 so he didn't "count" at a lot of meals on the last trip) we spent around an average of $120/day on all food. We at breakfast in the room most mornings but did do a character breakfast or two. We usually try to do our character breakfasts as late as possible and on EMH mornings so we get a few hours of uncrowded park time then take a "brunch break" for a while. On those days we wouldn't eat lunch but we would eat a sit down dinner so really 2 sit downs those days. Since we average $120 for 2 adults and 2 kids, I think $100/ day for 2 adults will be just fine.

Sounds about right. We're also two light eating adults and we usually spend $17-22 on counter service (depending on what we get), and usually between $40-70 on table service.

I think $100 a day is enough.

Im figuring on $40 char brkfst, $30 AR, $20 counter serv, $10 snax for DS13 & myself - am I too low?

When we were at Disneyland in CA, we spent AT LEAST $100 for me, my hubbie, DS6 and DS3. We didn't eat a whole lot: breakfast in our room or at the local IHOP, a light snack like a pretzel, lunch from a counter service place, and dinner either at the restaurant near our hotel or we split stuff inside the park. That is why we are going with the MYW Dining Plan. It will be $90 for the 4 of us and with the amount of food you get at the Table Service, we should be just fine. I will bring portable snacks and we will have our hydration packs for drinks. It's a great deal when you think about getting to eat at a restaurant where the average meal for ONE person will run around $50.

We have been planning it out so we can really maximize our credits. For instance, we are going to see if it works to pay for the kids' meals once or twice at a Table Service, which will give us an extra 2 or 4 Table Service meals, thus allowing us to eat 2 Table Service in one day. Or at least we think it will work like that. In places where the kid meals run around $6 or $7, it would make sense to pay for their meals and then use their Table credits later, right?

We will be taking full advantage of being able to eat at a nice seafood or steak restaurant, be able to have appetizers and dessert, and NOT worry about the price!!

I think you may be a little high as well. Especially if you aren't buying drinks and desserts. We don't normally spend $70 for the three of us at table serve places. Of course some are more than others, we don't get dessert or appetizers normally (or we split one) too much food.
