How are EMH currently enforced?

I apologize if this has been discussed in great detail before, but either the search function is still unoperational or I just can't find it anymore.

With so many non-resort guests having MBs now, I was curious as to how it was being enforced.

They scan bands at the ride entrances to check for a valid stay. Not sure how morning ones are handled as 9 AM rope drop is pushing it for us ;).

Not sure how they are doing it for evening EMH, but for the morning, they scanned our MB, before you entered the park.

So everyone entering every attraction during p.m. EMH goes through the FP entrance?

I guess that's one day to do it - thanks :goodvibes

I can see the system in the morning knowing you are a resort guest. I figured that was how they did it. So, morning, you access via standby and evening you access via FP entrance.

I assume mornings are the same as they have always been except you're using your band to get into the park instead of your KTTW/ticket. Once you're inside, there's really no need to scan the bands.

They probably need to scan with an iPad before you reach the turnstiles though, I'm not sure if the turnstiles have the ability to see if you have a valid resort stay or not.

No, they have iPads at the stand by entrances to scan bands and display info about the persons resort stay.

Ah, got ya. Wow, that sounds efficient.

I'm not sure either. But it's probably something they could easily set up.

Yes, I just assumed it was the same process with a different format (MB's instead of KTTW)

That will probably help them put an end to people using old KTTW cards and hoping the CM doesn't read properly

Nope, they just scan you at the turnstiles and if you are staying on property they let you in. The turnstiles don't do any of the logic. They merely pass the identifier to a computer that queries a database and that is where they can check to see if the band is attached to a current onsite resort stay. The turnstile then communicates the result of that query via a color.

I went to morning EMH last month and it was just a normal scan at the entrance, nothing special. We didn't go to any evening EMH but they could handle them the same as in the past by checking for a current resort stay and giving you a wrist band. The only difference is now they scan the band instead of looking at a KTtW card.

Was at morning EMH at AK this past Wednesday, they scanned our bands before getting to the turnstiles at park entrance. Then you scanned again to enter the park. There was no scanning done at any ride.

In our experience they have never scanned cards/bands at the attractions in the morning because guests are validated at the turnstiles so the only people in the park at that time are eligible to be there in any case. In the evening you have offsite guests who may not have left yet and may not even be aware of the EMH so they enforce entry to the attractions at night.

As other made mention when we were there in dec and took advantage of EMH they scanned your magic band at each attraction to ensure you were a Disney resort guest. Prior to that you would have to show your KTTW card upon entering an attractions queue.

So, are they scanning MBs at the entrance to every attraction for p.m. EMH or just once then issuing wristbands?

So it seems as though off-site guests will be able to stick around during evening EMH as long as they don't try to go on any attractions?

Is this pretty much how it was before with KTTW cards?

We haven't used evening EMH, only morning, as far as I can remember (even though all of our stays have been onsite).
