How appropriate (or inappropriate) would this song be

God now I know I'm getting old. I want to make a year-end video for our cross country banquet. I am thinking of using Cake's "The Distance"

But clearly this song could be interpreted more than one way if you get what I mean.

So how inappropriate would it be for a school athletics (middle school and high school) year end cross country video? I think it seems fine, but what do I know.

I think if you use the first chorus you'd be okay. The 2nd is a little depressing/gross...

no trophy, no flowers, no flashbulbs, no wine, <-- I'd hope that at least 1 kid would have a top 15 finish...

Well-I don't know that it would be my first choice...how about asking a couple of the kids for some input? Bless you for doing this-I've been there (but 10 years ago, so I can't be too helpful with song titles!).

I'm no help, but I do love that song(and Cake in general). I think it would be perfect but I am so out of touch with today's teens so I might be the wrong one to ask.

It's a big team so there will be room for several songs in the video. I planned on making a list of possible music, and then letting some of the seniors choose their favorites.
