just looking at the 10day forcast ( we are not leaving till 17th) but it says scattered thunderstorms everyday so far just wondering how accurate that is?
by the way the weather for the next 5 days looks great..lol

my knee is acting up, so it may rain, but i'm in texas so you may only get some drizzle...

just kidding:)
unless your under a tropical system(tis is the season) or stalled out front(not this time of year) - you probably won't get continuous rain. any forecast data 3-4 days out i would ignore completely!

I've been checking the 10 day forecast as well. And it's changed since yesterday. 18-19th was sunny but you're right they changed to thundershowers overnight!! I'm hoping it will change again before we get there.
We are staying at POP from 19-24th. Maybe I'll see you there! :wave2:

I just came back from a trip last week and the reports were right on, but the "thunderstorms" aren't bad. They didn't stop a single ride, and if you are eating or shopping you probably wont even know it happened because they are gone so fast.

Welcome to Florida in the summer! :cool1:

The forecast for EVERY DAY during the late summer can read the same: Sunny and hot with a chance of scattered afternoon thunderstorms.

Any time between say June and October would fit that description. Bear in mind, however, that those scattered thunderstorms are very much scattered most times - it could rain in Epcot by not in the MK, for instance, or it could rain in downtown Orlando but no in the parks, etc.

In general, they won't last too terribly long, but they can be quite intense for a brief period (lots of heavy rain and lightning).

But don't let them scare you at all - they are generally brief and sporadic.

Now if a hurricane or a front moves through the area, that is a different story all together... :umbrella:

I'll be at the POP also from 18-24....let's keep our fingers crossed for good weather!

Those are the exact same dates we'll be at POP. :cool1: Here's another wish for good weather!! :sunny: :flower:

The summertime forecast is always the same. My dh and I always joke that we could be a weatherperson because its the same every day. We were there in June and July for 3 weeks and 1 day of rain. It was the best weather we have ever had! It did rain every day just not where we were!! You'll have a great time, rain or shine!!

I checked 3 days ago and then the 10 day said rain each day! Now, not so much. Hape it good in 10 days when we go.

And I hope everyone else has great weather too!

:goodvibes

With our 2 week vacation in July, it only rained (torrential downpour, not rain) once. It lasted about an hour though.

I am from Florida so I'm used to this but we got soaked... you think we would have bought ponchos... LOL

World's easiest job...Florida weatherman!! Everyday: Partly sunny, hot with a chance of thunderstorms...just phone it in from poolside! ::MickeyMo

They say thunderstorms everyday while it hot and humid. We only had the 5- 10 minutes showers about 3 out 9 days. Even though it said scattered storms each day.

i checked today and starting 9/19 thru week they had sunny with little cloud coverage.. who knows!

According to our local weather caster, they're pretty accurate up to 5 days, and after that it's just a guess.

But, like another poster said, that's the forecast for everyday in Florida.

Meteorology: The only field where you can be consistently wrong and still keep your job! :)

Thundershowers in Orlando doesn't necessarily mean everywhere in Orlando, or at least not all at the same time.

9/2 weather report: chance of thunder showers
9/2 actual: humungous, ninety minute thunderstorm

9/3 weather report: clear and sunny
9/3 actual: downpour (no thunder/lightning) starting around 4, easing up a bit around 4:30, getting worse from 5 - 7; drizzling 7 - 9:30, torrential downpour :umbrella: @ 9:30

9/4 weather report: thunderstorms
9/4 actual: clear and sunny

9/5 weather report: thunderstorms
9/5 actual: bit of drizzle in AM, clear and sunny rest of day

9/6 weather report: thunderstorms
9/6 actual: rained about fifteen minutes mid-afternoon on way to airport

My impression of the weather in Florida is that it is exactly the same all summer. Hot, muggy, with maybe a thunderstorm somewhere between noon and 6pm. It's maybe 5 degrees hotter in August than in June or September, but otherwise it doesn't change much.

The exception is if a tropical storm or hurricane is going through the area. Then it rains most of the day, with some breaks.

So I only really look at the forecasts to see if a tropical storm is in the vicinity. Otherwise, we just make sure we have our umbrellas/ponchos, and press on through any rain that comes along. It doesn't usually last more than 45 minutes to an hour, and usually cools things off a little.

You can also plan breaks in the afternoon, and sleep through the rain showers!
