How accurate is the Disneyland app?

Hey everyone I have another trip to Disneyland planned for February before I head to Alani I got two questions for you guys if you don't mind answering how accurate is the app when it comes to characters also are the character lines for Darth Vader Chewbacca and the marvel heroes long I definitely want to get the unique Disneyland character photos while I'm out there and I can't wait to get a photo in front of sleeping beauty's castle

Very accurate. It's always spot on for wait times.

We met Darth Vader with a 15 minute wait on a Saturday afternoon a couple weeks ago. Lines average 15-20 minutes for all the meet and greets in the Launch Bay.

I do have a smart phone and I have used the app at home and while in the parks last week.
I'm not real proficient at using app's. I found it faster to call and Ask Otto for wait times.

Both the app and Otto were very accurate.

This past Friday it was horrible and not accurate most of the evening. It would say Dumbo was 10 minutes but Dumbo was actually 35 minutes on the sign outside the ride. It did that for a lot of the rides for most of the night. I use it a lot and find it's hit and miss sadly, just like the rest of the apps out there.

Character times on the app? A guideline at best. We had nothing but problems in fall. Partly three phones were showing different things when we were standing next to each other. When we asked a CM for the Incredibles which had been on the app for days in the mornings but never showed they told us "they hadn't gone back to that schedule yet." Apparently no one bothered to tell whoever feeds the times into the app...

It was accurate for DCA for us today but not accurate for DL. It was saying 5 min waits for most of fantasy land at 1130... It was more like 20 min.

Sounds like maybe the answer is an ever so helpful "it depends." We had a great experience with it on our trip in October, and plan on using it again in February. It was usually within 5 minutes of the posted wait time at the attraction (though often the posted wait was a bit longer than the actual wait). We even used it during the peak periods of the day when every line seemed long. We'd pull up the app, see what had a short wait and head that way. But it sounds like others haven't had as much luck. I wonder if it isn't as accurate when it is crowded?

Has anyone had problems with the app lately? I like to check it every now and then and yesterday all the attractions showed closed in the middle of the day. It also said there were no park hours for that date. Today it wasn't showing any wait times, so I just uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Now it appears to be working again.

We found it to be very accurate for shorter wait times but way off if they exceeded roughly 45~60 minutes.
The truly odd thing was how often rides showed times when they were in fact closed (scheduled).
I think what screws them up is people around the world blocking their locations and inputting bogus times.

It can only be as accurate as the wait times posted at the rides which are only as accurate as the CM's handing out the wait tracker cards. If they don't hand out the cards for awhile the times still register at the last time someone went through the line with a card. It's hard to have the current wait when there is a large influx of people like at the end of a parade or right at rope drop. So there are several factors that could make the app show different than the actual wait time. I'm talking about the official app, not the one where users input the wait times.

The official disneyland app does not take user submitted wait times.

I tried using it a bit when I was there this weekend. I gave up quickly, when, at 10:30am, it said their weren't FP for HSM.... And I walked right up and got on for 3:30pm. I looked a few other times with similar results. I can handle being a little off on posted wait times, but telling me there's no HSM FPs?! That doesn't make me want to use the app!

This is very interesting. I've been trying to use the app to see when HSM FPs are running out to plan for our trip next weekend, and it seems like they are always gone within two hours of opening according to the app. It's good to know that is not accurate!

We were there for 3 full days and 2 half days over Thanksgiving. I thought it was accurate. We also check MouseWait from time to time to compare.

The only issue is when a ride breaks down. Our group waited for Hyperspace Mountain and it said 65 minute wait. Then it broke down and it was a total of 120 minutes before they got off. I checked the app and never went over a 90 minute wait even though I know they waited for more than that.

I just left DCA today 12/15/15 it was very accurate.my family is season pass holders and I have noticed that they have put more characters in the park as of lately. There is a good rotation and at any character spot they are constantly rolling out characters. So one goes on break another comes right out. The app is so accurate but we are dealing with humans and human conditions. However they have enough characters to go around. And they are increasingly character interactions. I was ther 4 hours today and we meet 6 characters, caught a parade, met Santa, and did about 3 rides. They recently changed the price for passes and are including the unlimited photo pass which I have for my pass (kids have premium) and they are putting more photo opportunity as a result (to justify the price increase for adding blackout dates). Take advantage. We did all Star Wars last week. Wait times were shorter than projected. But on the app they have it right. I live by the app now. I trust it. And always we are dealing with humans so keep in mind things may change at any moment.

All 3 days I was there last week, there were FPs (granted, late times) into the lunch time, I believe, or darn near it.

I found that for the most part the App was pretty good, but as with anything, there were glitches. In general, I found that the wait times were updating about 5 to 10 minutes after the signboard at the attraction updated.

In terms of the FPs, I found the return time information to mostly be right, but as mentioned Haunted Mansion seemed to be having the most problems. There were several times when it said "Sorry, they're not available right now", but when I got there, they still had FPs. I wish the app would say something like "Fastpass distribution has concluded for the day" when they've run out of FPs and say something like "Fastpass information is unavailable" when the systems are not talking.

Overall, I do like the official Disneyland App and found it reliable enough that I'll continue to use it in the future.
