how accurate is scheduled ride closures?

Hi all,
Just found out then when we go to dlrp btm will be closed. Noooooo!! Its my dd's favourite and this year will be the first time my ds will be able to ride it, he is so looking forward to it. Has anybody ever experienced them changing the ride closure dates if so does it happen often, been very lucky in the past, so guess it would happen sooner or later ��

unfortunately its rare for DLP to change their refurb list once its published, sorry. Fingers crossed for you though .

Our options are to either stay as we are or change dates but as it would cost £400 more we would have to change from the dlh to hny as can't afford the extra £400. I have stayed at the dlh before so im thinking that the second option maybe for the best as my ds is completely looking forward to btm, that's all he is talking about, what would you guys do... Stuck!!

Personally I would stick with the original, £400 is a lot of money just over a ride and its one I love too but I would rather keep the money. Explain to your son that the ride won't be open before you go, that way the disappoiintment will have eased by the time he gets there

I feel your pain!!! Btm closed for our last 5 trips....yes 5!!!! We were gutted the first couple of times as it is our all time favourite ride but there is so many other great rides.....especially now playland is open and crush:-D. Personally I would keep my original plans....you really never know and Btm can be problematic with breakdowns!!! Last June it was to be open and we were ecstatic.... It broke down on our first day and wasn't fixed the whole 3 days we were there!!!! Also crush was scheduled to be closed and was open our whole trip :-D

Meant to ask where you saw Btm listed as closed.....I didn't see it on a list upto nov....oops just saw it on disneylandparis.ie official page.....details out very early this year!!!!

Our trip this October has IASW, Casey Jnr AND Pay de Cotes Fee closed! All DD's (4 1/2 years old) faves!!! But I've told her already, emphasised the others she likes, and she's ok. Helps we've been recently though!

Its not uncommon for Casey and Pay de Cotes Fee to be closed in October, think it has only been open once in all my October visits. I am surprised about IASW unless its having its Christmas overlay putting in then

My ds has Asperger' and once he gets an idea in his head that's it. I think i am going to have to sit him down and keep explaining things to him. He watches all our old dlp trips and its the one he is soooo excited to go on as he is a "bigger boy now, my dd and ds pretend they are on the ride with their hands in the air shouting "WOOOOOO!!!"
Oh no disneyfanswickow!! Think i would cry lol.

Would you down grade to the hny from dlh which would allow me to change dates so he could go on all the rides? Don't know what to do

Aww...I love that ride as well. Unfortunately in my experience Disney is pretty accurate with scheduled ride closures. I would personally keep the original dates and the DLH but then again I've never stayed in the DLH (too expensive) so it's a dream for me. Since you've stayed there already (have you stayed in hny? If not it would be a new experience) maybe it's not as important to you.

Personally, what I would do is stick to the plan and hope that maybe Disney will cancel the refurbishment. However make sure to talk to your DS about it as early as possible so he is emotionally prepared.

Crazy idea but, ask your kids what they would prefer; sleep in the pretty pink castle-ish hotel yet no BTM or sleep at the big hotel near the lake another time with BTM opened.

If your son is so into BTM I would just go ahead and change the dates! Personally if it would be closed for my dates, I'd be changing dates too and I'm a full grown adult. For a child it's a lot harder to understand why a ride is closed, so I would talk to him and if he's so upset with it, just change the booking.

i think i might change the dates too, in the circumstances Kazzabelle - your kids are still going to love the hotel if you change to the HNY - because its Disney .

I think if you can afford to change it, yes, I would. That's contrary to what I said above, I'm aware, but I know DD could cope (with plenty of warning!). You know your children. Go with your gut feeling. THe biggest drawback of staying in the DLH (I know, there is one, for me anyway and is my argument with myself....it's not a great argument granted... lol) is that you don't get a lovely wander through the Village at the of the day and/or see the lake!

Thanks for all your advice

I decided to sit down and talk to dd and ds and explain about btm, to my surprise my ds was ok about it, he said " can i still go on the other rides?", it was dd who didn't take it too well its her favourite. So i think we are going to stick with what we have booked. Im hoping that as it is scheduled to close for 2 weeks and due to be re opened 2 days after we leave they will get it all done and open early (here is to wishful thinking )

Oooh Karen that's a toughie. But it'll be ok and there will be other times plus the DLH is amazing. Bet DD forgets all about btm once she arrives.
