I'm thinking of subscribing for our next trip (or just so I can obsess between now and then). How accurate is it really?

We just got back last week. We were there from 3/5-3/12.

I found it to be of very little use. The main problem is that everything, other than user posts, is nothing more than an "estimated" wait time. Often, estimated times would be 20 minutes, then the actual posted wait time at the ride is 50. What was really annoying is that even after someone posts an actual wait time, the estimated time is not changed. Also, often, there was simply no recent wait times posted for many rides, leaving you only with estimated times.

On the other hand, at times, it was very helpful, if there was a recent user post.

That said, I continued to check it between rides, just to get an idea of where to head next. Just had to be prepared to get there and find something totally different than the estimate.

I guess I would use it again, as it is at least a general idea of what rides may or may not be crowded.

There is a free app somewhere out there. I spoke with a lady who was using it, and she reported it was very accurate and helpful. She also admitted to posting fake times on a ride the day before.

I have a free app, WDW Waits, that I have used on 3 trips now and have found it to be pretty accurate.

I have the Lines app but I've been happier with this free app.

I went last October and have Lines on my phone. One of my best friends was there with me and she had Mobile Magic. When we compared the two throughout the trip, Mobile Magic was the more accurate app. I think it costs $10 for 3 months though. I was thinking of trying it for our next trip !!

I used both "Lines" and "Waits" a little on our trip in January. They were just slightly helpful. Going in with a touring plan was a lot more useful. I didn't pay for "Lines" as it was included when I did the touring plan. I probably wouldn't pay extra for it.

There's a similar free app for US which I also used on this trip. It was, again, not all that helpful. Of course, we didn't need to know much anyway. The waits looked like this the whole time:

Forbidden Journey - 120+ min (thank goodness for older kids and single rider line!)
Spiderman - 5 min
Jurassic Park - 5 min
Cat in the Hat - 5 min
Hulk - 5 min
etc.

Actually, we did wait for 15 or so min for a couple of rides (surprisingly Poseidon was a bit lengthy wait), but overall everyone was practically walking (or running) right past everything else to go to WWOHP.

I would LOVE to have Mobile Magic IF WAS ONLY SUPPORTED ON MY PHONE!!!! I have Verizon. Just not one of the "special" phones.

as accurate as the people giving the info haha

yes, exactly.

I was at Test track Oct 2010 watching the data being pushed around. The wait time was 20 minutes. Someone had input 60 minutes 3 or 4 times in the span of a minute or so and pushed the Lines app to say 45 minutes.

I input 20 minutes a few times to correct and the wait came down.

But if it can be pushed around like this, what is the point? It will only be good if it has TONS of user input so noise like that from people either doing it on purpose or making mistakes gets washed out.

I am not a statictician I just know what I saw with my own eyes. I emailed with Fred over at Lines about it and he was super nice and said they have formulas and stuff to sort all this out but I remain skeptical (he even offered a refund but I like the Crowd Calendar so I declined. very nice of him though, great customer service).
