How About A Quick And Easy Treat Thread?

I love chocolate covered pretzels!

Here's mine for Haystacks: Melt butterscotch morsels over low heat. Stir in a can of chinese noodles. Drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper and allow to cool.

We've been making these for years - they're so good! We add peanuts to ours, so you get that good salty/sweet combo.

My favorite quick & easy treat is peppermint bark. Just made some, in fact.

Muddie Buddies aka Sweet Minglers
These are TERRIBLY addicting and, if you eat too much, you will get a stomachache.

don't ask why I'm an expert at that...but these are to DIE FOR right out of the fridge!!

Prep Time
15 minutes

Ingredients

1 package (6 oz., 1 cup) semi-sweet chocolate morsels
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup peanuts (optional)
6 cups Kellogg's® Crispix® cereal
1 cup powdered sugar

Directions

1. In large microwave safe bowl, melt chocolate at HIGH 1 minute. Stir and
heat 30 seconds longer at HIGH or until melted when stirred. Stir in peanut
butter and peanuts. Gently stir in KELLOGG'S CRISPIX cereal, until evenly
coated.

2. Place powdered sugar in 2-gallon zipper-type plastic bag. Add coated cereal to
sugar and close bag. Gently toss cereal mixture until evenly coated. Store in airtight
container in refrigerator. Yield: 16 servings

Microwave cooking times may vary.

Note

CONVENTIONAL DIRECTIONS:

Melt chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly until melted. Remove from heat.
Stir in peanut butter and peanuts. Pour mixture over cereal in large mixing bowl.
Gently stir until evenly coated. Follow step 2 above.

My mom's fudge recipe's even easier than the one above.

1 package choc chips (12 oz)
2/3 C (plus 2 Teaspoons) eagle brand type milk
1 tspn vanilla
dash of salt

Melt the chips, stir in the other ingredients. Optional, mix in nuts or marshmallows. Pour onto waxed paper lined pan and cool, then cut into pieces. This one took all of 5 minutes to make, and it tastes awesome!

That's about the recipe for Rachael Rays 5 Minute Fudge. I made it yesterday. One can sweetened condensed milk, a package of choco chips, 2 cups of another kind of chips if you want, and some vanilla. I did it like she does and made it into a wreath and it was perfect!

I used Special Dark chips and Mint Dark Chocolate chips and mixed in some walnuts.

Another quick treat I made last night:

Crushed oreos (I used maybe 1 row of them? Just eyeballed it)
Brick of Cream Cheese
Melted almond bark (or any dipping chocolate)

I just smushed the oreos together with the cream cheese, rolled them into small balls and placed on wax paper. Then just dipped half of them into the chocolate and let harden. Really yummy little treats!

Okay, I tried this before Thanksgiving and my Hershey Kisses never hardened. So it was just a MESS. I have done this in the past using those round white chocolate disks they sell at AC Moore for making choc candy, but I just don't care for the taste of that chocolate so I tried the Hershey Kisses this year. I love those pretzels too! What was I doing wrong? :confused3

I just did these yesterday with my daughter. First of all, I only had my oven on the Warm setting. Then I placed the pretzels and kisses in the oven for about 6 minutes. The kisses were just starting to melt when I took them out. I then placed the M & M on top and kind of pressed. I immediately placed the cookie sheet they were on in the fridge for a couple of hours. They set up for me, but when I took them out to put together plates, I noticed that they were starting to get soft again. I stuck them back in the fridge and they were fine. My kids just loved eating the leftovers. It's their new favorite Christmas treat.

By the way, there is a thread on the Budget Board entitled "Quick and Easy Christmas Treats". Sorry I don't know how to post a link. There are some amazing recipes over there. I've tried many of them, and my family loved everything I tried. Just thought I'd mention it.

I posted this a couple years ago...soooooo easy! I love that folks think I have spent hours in the kitchen! LOL :rotfl: I sure won't tell my secret to anybody but you all! :rolleyes1

I just have to share this VERY easy recipe! I actually made three great tasting batches of fudge in 30 minutes! Two simple ingredients and you are ready to go. One ready made can of frosting and one 12 ounce bag of chips. You can use any type of frosting and chips that you want. We used for our three batches: 1)mint chips and mint frosting 2) good old plain chocolate chips and good old chocolate frosting 3) White chocolate chips and Vanilla frosting. Have used butterscotch and peanut butter chips in the past.

Just stir the two over medium heat until melted and pour in a pan. After it has cooled for about an hour it is ready to go! I love telling folks that I made fudge by myself at home and it turned out this good! Tastes just like what my Grandma used to make...bet she would have loved this trick! Hope you all enjoy it! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
