Housekeeping Rant

We're just back from a wonderful 5 day stay and loved the Hotel New York. However on our last day we went down to breakfast, just before 9am, and put the do not disturb sign on the door as we were coming back up to finish the packing. We got back to our room about 9.30 am and there were 2 cleaners in our room and they were in the middle of stripping the beds and had already cleaned our bathroom and put out the new toiletries and towels for the next guests. They then carried on making the bed and just left with no sorry or anything. I just couldn't believe that they went in when our sign was up and that they were preparing the room for the next people when we hadn't even checked out. I was so annoyed that I crumpled up their nice clean beds and I filled up the bins with some stuff. When we left about 30 mins later they were waiting just outside our room and went straight back in without even lettin us close the door.

Doesn't sound too good. I like to have a bit of space on the leaving day to check everything. Wouldn't have liked maids hovering at all. Hope it didn't spoil your trip too much.

I always thought the maids came in after 11 which is why you have to of left your room.

If your checking out they do. I have popped back to the room on occasions & they have been cleaning the room even though it was before 11am but we were still staying that day.

It may have been a mix up with the room numbers

We did have someone enter our room at Hotel New York when we had the do not disturb sign out. Someone came in and realised we were there and quickly left so didn't see who it was.

Only issue I had with housekeeping (and it was the turn down staff too) at Hotel New York was their absolutely unbearable BO. Oh my goodness, it made me dry reach once it was that bad and if we went into the room soon after they had been in there, the smell was still in the room . My DS would run to the window and even though it was freezing and open it to get air I was really really offensive.

They did almost the same to us on our last visit. We had the do not disturb sign on the door for our last day, went down to grab a quick breakfast and when we came back they were already in our room! It was only 9.30am, they obviously left the room to allow us to finish packing and as soon as we opended the door to leave they were stright back in!!
