Hi,

We have been to WDW many times but we have never had a meal at the House of Blues located at Disney's West Side.

We are thinking of trying this place for dinner during our upcoming trip. Any opinions good or bad about this place?

HoB has excellent food. my sis and i ate there. i had a big juicy burger and she had chicken strips. they were both ecellent. it is a bit pricey, i thought, but for a nice nite out and great food it is worth it. the atmosphere is great and they usually have live bands and the like, too.

Thanks Shawn.

Any other opinions out there?

I love HOB! Yes, it is pricey, but what isn't at WDW? And I believe you more than get your money's worth in food. HOB believes in GENEROUS portions. Let me put it this way -- one of their appetizers would serve as a nice MEAL! :p

Put an appetizer, entree and dessert together and you will be rolling home! ;)

I enjoyed the cajun meatloaf and the strip steak (on different meals and days!!). The chicken strips appetizer is enough for a meal. They give you about 6 big strips on top of a pile of french fries.

All portions, including dessert, are overly generous, so make sure you are hungry. Some entrees can be a little spicy, meaning hot, but not burn the roof of your mouth off hot. Most things have a little kick to them.

Thanks Steve.

Anyone else? I got a very negative report on the AOL Travel boards about this place. Said it was dark and noisy. Anyone want to comment on the atmosphare?

We enjoyed it. We ate there for an early dinner in May. Good service. Not great, but good. Food was very good.
We plan on making a return visit next month.
A table next to us was a family of *locals*. So I figure it must be good if the locals (non-Disney employees) eat there. ;)

Can't help with the dinner experience, but can say our 3 lunches there were just fine.
It may be "noisy" compared to one of the hotel restautrants (most DD spots are noisy) but it certainly isn't dark. Very creatively decorated, I thought ,with the famous Jazz greats adorning the ceiling. Oh--service was good from the "young" wait staff.

We like the House of Blues. The rosemary corn bread is fantastic!

We've had a couple of waiters who could have been a little more professional but they got the job done.

We've heard some good bands there too.

If you like to eat, try the house of blues gospel brunch. Local church groups perform and HOB puts out a brunch that you will not believe. Its loud, but great!

House of Blues is one of our favorite places to eat at WDW. We eat here on every trip and have never had a bad meal. We enjoyed the Jambalaya and meatloaf on our last trip. Make sure you order a skillet of the Rosemary Cornbread with your meal it is out of this world.

My husband, who is very picky and/or opinionated, absolutely LOVED this restaurant after I begged him to give it a try. I had eaten lunch there a year before with 2 dear friends when we all stayed at Old Key West. The decor and ambience of the place is fantastic; service is fine and the food is terrific. Please give it a try. Any restaurant can be noisy at certain times. Try dining late and wandering to their outdoor patio, which is lit with tiny white lights and a lovely view of the water.
All the best, Wilma:smooth:

Thanks for all of the replies. We have it penned in for dinner one night on our trip in Feb. Thanks again.

My DH and I love HoB. The portions are large. We always order an appetizer (it is always the TO DIE FOR Calamari), one entree, and one dessert and share. In fact, we do this at most WDW restaurants just because of the large portions.

I really like HOB. I like the atmosphere, the service was fine, and the food was good! Also, they serve *very* generous portions which can easily be shared.
