House of Blues or Raglan Road?

It's been years since we've eaten at DTD. In August we are thinking of letting our teenage sons check out Disney Quest, and DH and I can have a nice "no kids" meal. Both menus look awesome - any reason to pick one over the other?

Also, when I called to make my ADR's this morning, the CM told me that the DTD restaurants don't operate with the "180 plus 10" rule - I have to call back exactly 180 out to make these ressies. Anyone else heard that. BTW, at the time I was going to do Raglan Road but then I also remembered being interested in HOB.

Thanks for your help!

I have only been to RR once and it is now our favorite restaurant. We are going there again in June but are also looking forward to trying HOB during that trip too!

I've eaten at both and I like both. It really comes down to what type of food you are in the mood for and the type of ambiance.

House of Blues is a little louder (except when the band at RR plays -8:30pm +)
Most dishes are cajun or southern.
The mood is a little more relaxed.

Ragland Road feels a little more upscale because of the decor. There seems to be fewer children there.
The food is Irish influenced, with twists on traditional Irish dishes.

The food is very good at both.

We go to RR more, since DH and I love Irish food and music.

Good cajun food is something we can get at home, also Blues music is something my city is famous for....

Well said. Couldn't agree more.

i have no idea about either restaurant since i've never been to both. we have ADRs at HoB for lunch in april (i'm going just for the fried artichoke hearts alone!). i've heard both are good though. the reason i'm responding is because do know that you can't make ressies for HoB until exactly 180 days out. i called at my 180-day mark for ADRs for my entire trip and the CM told me i'd have to call back a few days later for the HoB ressie since it was like 183 days. i didn't realize this was for all DTD restaurants though. i thought it was just because HoB isn't on the DDP. you learn something new every day!

I'm thinking we might have to try both - maybe take the kids along to HoB (16 YO plays the guitar - he might enjoy it).

I am very, very honored that Brenda replied to my post! I've read all your reports even thought I've never replied - some of the best and funniest reading on the Internet. I've even seen Plankton!

HOB is okay but kind of overpriced. I hate on RR. I have no dispute with the food; it was really great. My wife and I just had an awful server that made the whole experience suck. There's really no other way to say it. I agree with the other posters that the decor at RR is definitely more upscale, but I'd eat at a hovel if the food was good and the servers weren't the lowest common denominator.

We really liked the food at HoB. Portions were VERY large. It was LOUD. I didn't leave there feeling in a very romantic mood, and if I had one dinner alone with DH, this would not be my choice!

Looking forward to trying RR this April.

Go with HoB. love the food at RR, but Had the same experience as pp with the service.

The server made 5 trips to our table.
1) Take the drink order
2) take the order,
3) retake the order
4) drop off dessert
5) drop off check.

combined time of the 5 trips ~ 35 seconds. Wish he could've spend an extra 3 seconds during trip 2) and saved all of us the trouble of trip 3).

And no, we weren't the only ones getting bad service. While we didn't receive all of our food on the first try, we were twice brought food that should have gone to neighboring tables, with different servers.

HOB's just not my taste, but the rest of my family liked it.

We had a great experience at RR, but we ate at the bar (Angel was great! And I'm sure the Guinness didn't hurt ;) ). If you are big seafood lovers, consider RR. We had the It's Not Bleedin' Chowder and WOW! Deeeelicious!

we haven't been to HoB yet, but our experience with RR was fantastic! I love the atmosphere, the music and the food was fantastic! It is the only restaurant we are repeating on our next trip in April. :lovestruc

:rotfl2: Plankton has never eaten at House of Blues so he's going to refrain from commenting ... just this once.

How've you been Jo?

I'm doing well!

I hope you are too! I haven't been on the restaurant
board much in the last year (it's too hard to diet and read about food :rolleyes1 )

Yes! I always order INBC for my entree ever since the first time I had it
