The move from Downtown Disney to Anaheim GardenWalk for the House of Blues has an opening date, and the opening act is interesting, local and one Disney banned from performing at DtD.

>>The new digs cover 44,000 square feet and include a 2,200-capacity main music hall for bigger touring acts and events, a 400-capacity room called The Parish for smaller performances, singer-songwriter evenings, release parties and corporate meetings, a 175-capacity Foundation Room/VIP club and a much larger restaurant, kitchen and bar than it previously had.

On Tuesday, House of Blues Entertainment also shared the first batch of shows for its new location, all of which will go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday at HouseofBlues.com/Anaheim.<<

Wow, great lineup for the first month. I've never gone to a show at HOB. I wish I could see prices.

Looks like a great start to the new HOB location. Out of curiosity, do you know why Disney banned Social D from performing at DTD?

It was their opening act, Gallows... Social Distortion refused to play due to Disney's action, and looks like this is HOB making a comment about their new location.

>>In early 2008, upstart English punk band Gallows was all set to open for Social Distortion at a gig at the House of Blues at Disneyland. The bill seemed like a good way to get exposure for a band that was starting to catch on stateside—or it did until Disney officials actually stopped to listen to Gallows' debut record, Orchestra of Wolves. Once Disney brass heard Gallows' tunes, they nixed the show due to the band's occasionally offensive lyrical content.

While it seems odd to get upset at a punk band for being abrasive, Disney's move wasn't unprecedented. Just a few months earlier, the company had banned the metal band Machine Head from performing at the House of Blues for similar reasons.<<
