We were supposed to be completing on our sale and purchase this Friday. Because of the lack of oomph on the part of my purchaser's solicitor (and to a degree, my solicitor) despite chasing constantly for the last two weeks, it now looks like it isn't going to happen ... I feel really despondent. Although it will only be postponed until about Monday or Tuesday next week, I'm so disappointed I can't explain it in words. I really wanted to be spending this weekend in my new home, not in my old one surrounded by boxes.

Oh well, ..... and thanks for letting me get that off my chest ..... I'll get back to work now.

Sorry to hear that Jackie! :( solicitor's should have had stuff all sorted for you thats what they get paid for!! Anyway i hope everything gets sorted soon and you are soon in your new home.

Dont they drive you round the twist!!!!
Chin up only a few more days, if all else fails and you really hate looking at those boxes, go and do a bit of retail therapy!

The worst thing is that I work for a firm of solicitors in London. If we behaved in the laid back fashion to clients like my conveyancers have, we wouldn't have any clients left!

I have told my solicitors to pass on to the purchaser's solicitors that if it all falls through on Tuesday, they will be paying Pickfords' bill. I had insurance which covered me for the postponement Friday but it won't cover me a second time. I don't know if I can say that they "have" to pay the bill but I will make their lives a misery if they don't! I'm like a dog with a rat when I get really upset, and I'm really upset now!

Also, I now have to tell my young son tonight that he won't be in the new house for the weekend and I know he will be disappointed. Suppose that means I'm in for a trip down to Toys R Us to take his mind off it .......! Jules - thats about the closest I get to retail therapy these days!!

Oh there is nothing more stressful than house moving - I hate it, I swear that's where all my grey hairs have come from.

Fingers crossed everything starts to go smoothly for you from now on. :)

Btw, whereabouts in the Essex/London borders are you? I'm originally from and grew up in Chigwell! :)

Astrid

Hi Astrid - I live in Seven Kings, only a 10-15 minute drive from Chigwell. DH's parents live in Hainault, again a stone's throw from Chigwell. What a small world we live in ....

Feel a little bit more relaxed about it all today - we have decided to have a complete "day off" on Saturday and get out of the house and not sit looking at boxes. I need to escape!

:( How disappointing - hope everything goes well for you next week:D

At last - we finally completed on our sale and purchase on Tuesday - not without a few last minute hitches though. Money finally went through at about 4.00pm.

Still - we're in - we have boxes everywhere - but I love it!
