It's my favorite show, but sometimes it goes over my head.;)

Can someone please explain exactly what House was doing with that medicine? Giving himself a migraine with that other doctor's "breakthrough" med and nitroglycerine?

And then the LSD trip?

Was his point that he wanted to prove that the other doc's med would CAUSE a migraine? And the LSD would stop it? Great episode but confusing as all get out - to me anyway.:rotfl:

I don't think he wanted to "cause" a migrain, I think he wanted to prove it didn't stop a migrain from happening.

OK, that makes sense, but did House say he had a history of migraines before? Or was the nitroglycerine used to "bring on" a migraine?:confused3

He used the nitro to bring on the migrain and then it wouldn't go away so then he took the LSD.:)

The other doctor claimed that his drug prevented migraines. House first took the 'preventive drug' then used the nitroglycerin to induce a migraine. The doctor's drug failed to prevent it and House got the migraine. He later used LSD to eliminate the migraine and then used anti-depressants to counteract the LSD 'trip' and shorten it. Does that help?

Once again, the show was more about the characters involved than the actual medical stuff.

The Doctor that was getting rich pawning a fake cure was an old colleague/med student with House. Dr. Weber won an internship back in medical school that House was supposed to get. He was also responsible for House being thrown out of school for cheating.

Dr. Weber was doing his research in India. House studied up on Weber's research and found that it did not add up. He declared Weber a fraud and faked Cuddy's signature to have Weber come and do a lecture at the hospital.

Both revenge and House's sense of ethics that Weber was a modern day snake oil salesman with his "migraine" medicine caused House to set out to prove that it did the migraine medicine did not work. Because Weber had faked results and was now getting popular and rich on a bogus cure, House felt he had to experiment on himself to prove himself wrong.

So, House induced the migraine in himself to prove the medicine did not work. Then, because the Nitro migraine was excruciating, he took the LSD to cure it. Then, as mentioned above, he took the depressants to shorten the LSD trip.

So, this storyline was not about the medicine, but about exploring House's all of a sudden show of ethics entwined with a deep sense of revenge for Weber

Now, I'm very clear on the whole thing. I never knew that nitro could bring on a migraine, I think that's where I was confused.

Actually, I thought the episode was excellent. Weird, but excellent. Love the originality of the script.

Oh, and the MS angle was interesting for me. I have MS and I have NEVER had a lesion show up on an MRI. A positive MRI and LP aren't the only way to diagnose MS. A repeat of MS exacerbations with MS-like symptoms are also used. Back in the day, the ONLY test they had for MS was to put the patient into a tub of hot water. If they experienced a worsening of symptoms after being exposed to the hot water, voila - MS.;)

But again - the show intrigues me - I don't care how weird it is.:thumbsup2

I'm left wondering if LSD is a common drug for hospitals to have on hand. I mean, where did House get it?
