I have been reading the threads on Hotwire and Priceline for several weeks now, and I have also been doing research on betterbidding.com. I watched on Hotwire what I believed to be the Dolphin, fluctuate in price over several weeks. The lowest was $88 and and highest $98 for our dates.

So last night I took the plunge and based on the 4* rating and the amenities (rest-pool-fitness-business-golf-tennis-laundry) listed in the Walt Disney World Area, I took a chance. It was the Dolphin, and I got it for $92 7/3-7/5!!! I had previously booked the Dolphin for those two nights at the teacher's discount of $129, but this was much better!

We always stay at the YC, our favorite, but with value season not starting until 7/5, I was not going to pay over $300 a night for a room! (We're transfering over to the YC on the 5th when value season begins.) So we decided to give the Dolphin a try since we have dined there many times, and we really like the resort and the location. I just can't get over how reasonable the price is for a holiday weekend!

Yeah Hotwire!! Maybe I'll see how their car rental rates are too!:Pinkbounc princess:

According to www.biddingfortravel.com, many people have been getting Dolphin for $69/night on priceline. What was your total price paid incl. taxes/fees? I think on priceline after taxes fees they are paying around $80/night.

I am so tempted.

We're not planning to go this year, but we weren't planning to go in 2002 either, and we went and got APs, so we had to go in 2003 TWICE.

YC is also our favorite, but the location is one of its main amenities.

I didn't want to take the chance with Priceline. Biddingfortravel themselves admit that getting the Dolphin/Swan is rare on Priceline, (and I felt even rarer over a holiday weekend.) I was 90% sure that the hotel I was purchasing was the Dolphin, so I went for it. We wouldn't have wanted the Wyndham or any other 4* resort, except for maybe the Swan. The rate was $92, for each of 2 nights, add taxes and fees, and the total was $213.95 .

If I didn't care what hotel I got as long as it was a 4*, then maybe I would have tried Priceline. I just feel that Hotwire is a little less of a gamble, and it worked for me!!::yes:: princess:

All very good points! It's not like you paid much extra for that assurance either! :)

tar heel,

If I lived in NC, I would try to get to WDW more often! It's the airfare that's expensive for us, and we did the 18+hour driving deal too many years.

I felt more confidant going with Hotwire than Priceline, so if you really get tempted and want to give it a try, let me know if you have any questions.princess:

Many thanks for posting this, I just got the Dolphin for $92 over the 4th of July weekend as well, saving nearly $200 off the government rate. That may get me a car for the weekend and some time at Universal.

Enjoy Independence Day! maybe we'll see the same fireworks.

TDC Nala,
Congratulations! Doesn't it feel great to save that much money on your hotel room? Maybe we'll bump into you there!:wave2:

Hey, I got it for the week after. I decided to go ahead and grab the airfare, too. At $168/each for what ended up being a non-stop out of Dulles, that's a great price, too. And I knew for sure that it was dolphin.

I can't wait!!!!

good for you guys,

I just check hotwire for May l7 and the rate is $142!.

Oy,

herc.

Can anyone walk me through how I would go about getting the Swan/Dolphin on priceline.com?

I just got the Dolphin for 2/21 and 2/22 on Hotwire for $120 a night. That was a great savings considering it's high season. I think even with my AP/AAA rate it would have been about $180 a night.
Lucky_bunni, I recommend checking out betterbidding.com and biddingfortravel.com. I utilized those boards and made an educated decision based on the amenities offered at a 4* resort. I used Hotwire because I felt more confident that I would get the Dolphin. Based on the information I received off those websites and the posting on the Resorts board, I was able to figure out that what I saw on Hotwire was probably the Dolphin and it was. Good luck! :teeth:
