Hotwire Savings Club Questions?

I'm not sure I totally understand your question... could you please re-explain? Thanks :)

HI SRUAlmn

I hope this makes more sense-
I have contacted Hotwire about joining the club to buy dinning vouchers for disney world, as I live in the UK I wanted to make sure that I could still join and to see if there were any extra charges involved with shipping etc. The reply I recieved stated that I would get a confirmation of purchase from them and then I would need to present the confirmation in the world to get the vouchers. I was wondering if anyelse has done this? As I was under the impression that you where sent the actual vouchers.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Cheers
Rachael

2 more questions

1. Is that 15 GC's in a year or 15 ever?

2. The movie tickets - are they only good after a set amount of time or can you go see a movie in the first week of opening.

Ah! Now I understand. You are correct, the rest of us in the US had them shipped to us for free, so I don't know of anyone else I have seen on here that has had to pick them up at Disney. Maybe someone will come out of the woodwork when they see your post. Sorry I can't really help too much with that aspect :(

Starwood:
Here are the stipulations for the movie tickets:
'In Manhattan, NY, discount ticket prices are just $1.00 more at the door at Loews/Cineplex Odeon/Magic Johnson/Star Theatres and AMC theatres. There is a $2.50 surcharge for tickets redeemed in Manhattan, NY, United Artists Theatres. Tickets are valid through the month indicated. Not valid for the first ten (10) days of a motion picture's release. Good any day of the week thereafter, including holidays and weekends. Movie ticket purchases made through the Hotwire Savings Club are limited to 10 per day, 100 per membership year.'

I don't see any stipulations listed for the gift cards...anyone else know for sure?? I would think it would be 15 in a year, otherwise, why would you continue a membership after that.

Let me know if you have any other questions

Seems that the ticket rules are the same as in the entertainment book. They don't do me any good because I can't convince DS to wait 10 days before seeing a movie.

Thanks for replying.

I've emailed Disney to see if they can assist as I have collected Breakfast vouchers direct from Disney when I purchased a 10 day pass and the breakfast was part of the deal.

Thanks again
Rachael

What website do you go to to join? I have not heard of this club before and am curious to learn more. I love to save!

This really is legitamate? The WDW tickets are regular tickets and people have used them with no problems at the gates? The gift cards are the same as any gift card, just less expensive??

So far so good for us. We joined in June and bought some gift cards for Blockbuster, Chuck E Cheese, and Babies are Us along with a few Disney vouchers. They came by DHL in a week and I got the credit on my card July 1. Seems like a really good deal.

So ---- I think I'm missing something... Do I read this correctly that you can buy a $25 gift card for KMart or Target for $20 to redeem for whatever you want? This is like getting $25 cash for $20 as long as you shop at one these stores.

Do you have to pay for shipping on these gift cards?

There is free standard shipping on anything ordered from Hotwire Savings Club. However, there is one catch to what you are describing. You have to initially pay the $25, then send in the rebate form and you get credited the $5 back later. I actually purchased some Q & C Disney Meal Vouchers and the credit was $10. I ordered them about 2- 2 1/2 weeks ago and still have not received the credit yet (received the vouchers in about 3 days.) From what I have heard on here, though, you do end up getting the credits. It just takes a little time.

One more thing you may want to make yourself aware of...

You cannot receive any credits unless your account is in good standing. Therefore, if you were planning on signing up for the free trial and then cancelling after 30 days, you will not receive any credits that you don't have within that 30 days. Once you cancel your account you can no longer receive credits and you can not re-open a new account for 1 year after cancellation.

It sounds like you can't go wrong on this -- especially with the store certificates.

I'm leaving in about 3 weeks -- if I join today, can I order those meal vouchers right away, and do you think I'll get them in the next week or two?

Everyone that I have seen post on here regarding the meal vouchers (including myself) has received them in 6 days or less from when they ordered them. If you order today or tomorrow, then you won't even have a weekend to break up your time. I can't wait to use mine. Let me know if you need any more info about them :)

So, let me see if I totally understand this. I was going to join and buy 15 gc for Kmart. I would get the gc's within a week or so and then I have to turn around and mail in a rebate form? I was only going to join for one month for free. I would then have to hope that the credits come back to me within one month? Do I have to use the gc within that month or can I send in the rebate form and then use the gc's whenever I want? I hope my questions make sense, I am just trying to understand this before I join!

I know for the meal vouchers you just print out the confirmation screen and mail it to them. That screen includes what you ordered, your account number, and your address (which is the information they need to process your credit.) There is a special address (which I called to get because I accidently closed the screen) that you have to send it to. I haven't ordered any gift cards so I don't know for sure if it works the same way for that or not. Maybe someone else knows??

There isn't a rebate form for the gift cards, HWSC automatically credits your credit card account at the beginning of the NEXT month, so you have to stay a member long enough to receive your credit. I've read that depending on when you joined, you could receive your credit during your free trial. Depending on how many GC you purchase, you can still get a very good deal even by paying the fee one or two months while you decide what GCs to purchase.

The GCs are just like the ones you purchase in the stores, with no expiration dates. However, some of them do include a clause similar to this - To cover administrative costs, a $2 per month dormant account fee will be deducted from the balance after 24 months of non-use. This is from the Toys R Us card, and it is included on GC you purchase at their store also.

I joined in mid April, and made 8 purchases from them, including meal vouchers and GCs from Kmart, Target, Toys R Us, Babies R Us (the TRU & BRU cards are the same & can be used at any R Us store), Sam Goody, and Chuck E. Cheese's. I received every purchase in less than a week, every credit was applied properly, and I received the $10 rebate very quickly. I'm going to cancel for now, but plan to re-join next year for more Target cards.
