Reading the guidelines on the Hotwire site, it says that the rooms are guaranteed for 2 people, and they can't guarantee that you will have a nonsmoking room or one or two beds.

I am looking to maybe book the Dolphin thru Hotwire, but there are 4 of us, and we would definitely need two beds. Anyone use Hotwire for the Dolphin and get a room with only one bed? I would think most of the rooms there have two beds anyway.

I guess this is also an issue for those who book at other hotels too. Most of us travel with our families and have 3 or 4 or more people in our parties.

So if you booked thru Hotwire, post your results!princess:

For Orlando hotels the general experience has been that you can call the hotel and ask for two beds and get it. This is because Orlando has LOTS more doubles than kings.

This same situation does not apply to other markets.

I got the Orlando airport Hyatt via Hotwire (for $24!!) for the night before our DCL cruise this summer. I called the hotel directly and requested that we have a non-smoking room with 2 beds since there will be 4 of us. They said it would be no problem.

So, let me get this straight: you can call the hotel with your requests even if you book on Hotwire and they don't take any requests?princess:

Yep that's right! We're only staying there one night, so I wasn't going to be too upset if we HAD to get a room with only one bed. My son's best friend is going with us on vacation and they're both good sized 14 yos so I thought it was worth a try to contact the Hyatt directly about getting two beds. I told them that my reservation was through Hot Wire and they said that the requests were no problem.

Has anyone experienced this with the Dolphin?:hyper:

Not Hotwire, but Priceline... Not Dolphin, but the Wyndham Palace. (i.e, I'm waaay OT, but I have to share. :teeth: )

For New Year's Eve, I got the Wyndham Palace via Priceline for around $40 total!! I signed up for the Wyndham Rewards card online, immediately. Then, I made my requests online with my Wyndham Rewards cards number, which I had not even gotten yet. I had requested bedding for 4 on a "high" floor.
We got there and had a tower room with two queen beds!! :teeth:

I got the Dolphin thorugh Hotwire for June. I called and told them we need a non-smoking room (guaranteed) and 2 beds as there are 4 of us (not guaranteed, but she said it won't be a problem as most of the rooms have 2 beds). They can't changed the number on your reservation from 2 to 4, but will take your requests.

Not a guideline but a rule. You're bidding on a room guaranteed for 2 people. In some cities (NYC for example) many of the hotels will be giving you a very small room with one full size bed.

In Orlando most of the hotels have plenty of rooms with 2 double beds. I think I've only read of 2 or 3 people who had problems. Just try not to check in very late, particularly if you think the hotel is sold out.

People with families either book 2 rooms, book conventionally or just take the (small) chance of being stuck. You have the right to make a request, the hotel doesn't have to honor it.

RISK IN ORLANDO IS LOW but you don't have any recourse if the hotel give you one bed.

Thanks for all of your replies! It appears I am more likely to get a room with 2 beds, but not guaranteed.

I am also a Starwoods member, so maybe that could make a difference as well at checkin.:wave2:

Can't you ask for the 2 beds when you arrive? I was going to use Hotwire for one night in March. We have 6 in our party and I was going to get 2 rooms.

If people have had great success with calling the hotel, I can do that also I guess. I'm trying to get the Holiday Inn or similar near DTD.
