Hotwire folks -- is this right?

Hotwire members, please just see if I understand this correctly....

As a Hotwire member, I can purchase up to 15 gift cards per retailer per year. Each time I buy one $25 card, $5 is eventually returned to my credit card. So that's 15 cards PER MERCHANT... not just 15 cards only forthe year. So I could buy 10 TOysRUs cards, and 10 Target, and 10 Circuit City and be fine, right?

QUESTION: Can I use more than one card in a shopping visit? I know I can do this with usual cards (like for example when my kids receive a few ToysRUs gift cards at birthdays -- they allow us to combine all the cards for a single purchase, if desired).

SO.... if I purchase like 8 cards from target and then use them to buy up my groceries one day -- that would be ok? I ask because obviously that's like getting 20% off. That might be nice for our WDW trip.... getting our massive grocery bill for 20% off when we take our group of 8 to the BWV for 10 days! And as these are like gift cards -- I can use them without restriction, correct? For example -- My son needs a new computer monitor -- there is one on sale at Circuit City from 129 now at 79... I could buy 3 gift cards and end up getting about 20% more off the price in the end, correct?

Help appreciated before I make the leap! I'm already a hotwire member -- I joined to get those cheap 7 day hopper plus passes... but this gift card thing seems too good to be true!

THANKS!

yes- you can use many cards in one visit- they are just like regular gift cards. Yes- it is 20% off

As stated above, they are regular gift cards. They are not special vouchers or anything.

I purchased the cards through Connections. I bought 200 dollars worth of Kids R Us cards and used them to buy school clothes. I used all the cards at once with no problem. I then bought 200 dollars worth of Toys R Us cards and used them for Christmas gifts. I also bought several restaurant gift cards for Christmas gifts - like for the kids teachers, for their sunday school teachers, neighbors, etc. I also purchased JCPenney gift cards and then paid off my JCPenney bill with them after I had purchased my DD a new bed. I more than made up for my membership fee.

Wow! Guess I thought it sounded too good to be true... THanks!

when do they take the $5 off your credit card? How much are shipping charges - that may eat into your savings?

The $5 per card credit shows up on the credit card at the end of the month I purchased the cards. There are no shipping charges for usual shipping. Of course, there is the monthly fee ($7.95 a month, I think).

The only catch is that you are limited as to how many gc's you can buy in a year- it doesn't make sence for me to continue my membership once I have reached my limit on gc's for the 4 or 5 stores that I use. I have already hit my limit on Target
:( .
