Hey everyone, this is my first time on this forum but I could really use some advice. We are coming to the Orlando area in May. For the first 5 days we will stay at a disney resort as I was offered a free dining plan and they have a suite at a value resort, (there are 5-6 of us). Additionally, a wheelcajir van rental is very expensive, but Disney resorts offer frequent accessible shuttle to their parks.
I am having a hard time on google finding something similar at universal. We plan to go to both parks, maybe seaworld, maybe busch gardens, we plan to buy the meal plan, we will need to find a suite, but we need a hotel that offers Frequent (like every half hour-hour or less) round trip shuttle that can take passengers that have to remain in their wheelchair to universal parks. I appreciate any advice!

Welcome! :teeth:

This thread doesn't really go in the Universal resorts section since you're asking about offsite hotels but I'm going to leave it for a while to see what kind of responses you get.
:thumbsup2

i suggest you contact Mears and inquire if they have w/c lifts on their shuttles.

that would be the best place to check out since you need a lift on the bus for the traveling to seaworld and busch gardens.

call some of the hotels you are interested in and ask them about their shuttles and schedules.

those that stay onsite at the UO hotels, do get free shuttle service to Seaworld, aquatica, wet and wild.
for those that want to do a day trip, it is $10 rt pp on a luxury bus going to Busch Gardens.
but that is for onsite guests only.

i don't know if Orlando has the Pace bus system that we have in Illinois.
it is a shuttle that is pre arranged for transporation that has w/c lifts.

when you said you would buy the meal plan, are you talking about seaworld or universal?
the universal meal deal is not ideal as it is limited to 3 places in each park.

maybe you could make a thread inquiring about w/c lift shuttles on the transportation boards...

Have you considered and priced out a stay for two connecting rooms at one of the three on-site hotels at Universal? They will have accessible rooms.

Each hotel has a path and boat service to the parks that are wheelchair accessible. Universal is much smaller than Disney, with these on-site hotels you would not need a shuttle to visit the Universal parks.

Information on the on-site hotels can be found here: http://www.universalorlando.com/Hotels/Three-World-Class-Hotels.aspx The reservation line is: 1-888-464-3617

I would assume the shuttles from the on-site hotels to Seaworld, Aquatica and Busch Gardens would need to be ADA compliant and if not always equiped to take a wheelchair they would have to offer the service at no extra charge. You could call one of the hotels directly to inquire.

Not sure if you are looking off-site or on. Also not sure of your budget restrictions. You could check a suite at Portofino Bay hotel. They may be able to accommodate six of you there. They can definitely accommodate 5. Hard Rock Hotel can also accommodate five.

They have boat shuttle and bus shuttle that runs frequently and is handicapped accessible.

I'd skip the meal plan as it is very lmited.
