I can't seem to find the website which gives helpful info in identifying Orlando area hotels on Hotwire. I would appreciate anyone who can give me that site. I thought I had it bookmarked but I can't seem to access it lately.

The proper place to look is www.mousesavers.com and look for the link to universal stuff. I just got RP using hotwire for 113 a night july 1-4 . Also note that if u call the universal reservtions line afterward as hotwire recommends to confirm room type, they will say oh we cannot change hotwire reservvations, HOWEVER, if you call the hotel directly and ask for front desk, they are very helpful ( I needed a non smoking room with 2 queens and they took care of it) otherwise I am not sure we would have gotten non smoking. Note that 113 a night is cheaper than the buy 4 nights get 1 free, since the buy 4 nights deal is based on 209 a night so I was told. also note that u can arrive early and get a FOTL pass even if your room is not ready, and also they will give you a FOTL room key to use even after you check out, so you can take advantage of that as well on the day you leave.
Mastercard is running a buy 4 5day passes get 1 free special on universal web site. There now you are set!

Cool! I got the Portofino for $177 with Hotwire. The entertainment rate was not available. So I am happy!!

Hotwire is weird. I spent a lot of time on it playing with dates to try and find a good rate at a Universal hotel, but none of the three were showing up on Hotwire for my dates. Now the PBH is showing up for my dates -- a few days ago it was $155 and now it seems to have jumped up to $177. I guess the trick is to jump on a low rate when you see it -- but there is that darn non-refundable issue.

Also, I'm not sure but I think that the Hotwire dates and rates track the Entertainment Card dates and rates pretty closely -- at least, that's what was happening for the various dates that I was checking (if an Entertainment Card rate was available, the same rate would show up on Hotwire for the same date). So if you have a choice, it makes sense to go with the Entertainment Card rate, since that reservation can be cancelled; also, I think that Hotwire charges a (relatively small) booking fee.

I am confused - I am trying to find a good rate for HRH on Hotwire but nothing comes up under Orlando Wet & Wild. They are under Orlando Universal. There are 3 that look like the resorts at US but none of them have the icon for resort. Has Hotwire changed the way the resorts are listed. Please help.

Bamacamp, Yes, Hotwire has changed the zones. The RPR/HRH/PBH can now be found in the Universal Orlando zone. The only one that will come up w. the Resort icon is RPR.

Thanks LynnB - HRH does not come up for my dates. I will just keep checking.

Thanks again:D

also note that if you try for 3 days or so and it doesnt show up, try doing it as 2 days then as 1 day, sometimes they are set up weird and you can find RPR available for 3 nights seperately but not all at 1 x.

Thanks Murf, I am trying to book for July 21 - 26. I was able to bring up 7/21 - 7/23 at HRH, but then the last days no HRH but saw what I think is RP at 113. per night. The only thing that has me concerned is that there was no resort icon for RP. It had a icon for laundry, business, fitness, and something else I can't remember. It was a 4 star. Is RP the only 4 star? Does that sound like RP? At 113 per night I could get two rooms, and forget trying to get ressie for a deluxe at HRH. Maybe that is a plan I need to think about.

That is not RPR. I think it is the Clarion. I had been experiencing the same thing as you so I went to the vacation packages. Interestingly, RPR came up with the packages but not without. The hotel with the amenities listed w/o the resort icon I believe is the Clarion.

Thanks for much stlrod!!!! I would have been making a huge mistake. I am going to just keep checking everyday to see what I can find. And if all else fail I will be at PBR with the entertainmant rate. Which is not bad at all.

Thanks again so so so much:D

The other 4 star w/o the "R" is the Crowne Plaza Universal.

Bamacamp,

It looks like HRH is available for 7/21 to 7/26 now. 4.5 stars at $159.00 a nite.

Hey - I see a 160. /nt 4.5 stars do you think that is HRH? And why did that not show up earlier today?

Yes that is hard rock. I have been following this site for my dates and it changes like the wind! I have noticed that for universal area hotels (not including universal on-site) the rates have come down as the date gets closer but some hotels have also been removed. I booked crowne plaza for one night at $57 (so excited) and when I started looking same hotel was $113.00. If in doubt that it is a universal on-site make sure you see the kids activities icon.

What were the amenities for the Crowne Plaza and how far in advance did you find it for your date? Thanks.

The **** I bid on came up as a Customer Favorite. The amenities icon's listed were restaurant, pool, fitness center, business center and laundry facilities.

When I first started looking it was $113.00. I do NOT advise anyone to wait like I did it just happened to work out in my favor. I did not book this hotel until less than a week before going. It was for one night and it was a weekday. I ended up getting it for $57. I just went and looked and this hotel is now pricing $75 for one night midweek next week. My thinking is that if this property remains low occupancy they may lower their rates as the dates approach. I could be wrong! :)

Good Luck! I was VERY happy with Crowne Plaza the staff and room was first class.

Thanks Jessica. I am looking for a Friday night in July. Right now it's showing as $100 which is more than I'm willing to pay to arrive in the evening and leave by 8 in the a.m. to go to the PBH.

Still would love to know what the 4 1/2 star for $83 and 3 1/2 star for $45 could be.
