Hotels near Savannah Airport

I booked our airfare into Savannah, Georgia. Right now we get into Georgia pretty late 10:22 PM. If our flights do not change we thought we would stay in Savannah for the night before driving to Hilton Head Island. We have not explored Savannah and thought this would be a good opportunity.

We were in Savannah last January for a wedding - beautiful city! We enjoyed our long weekend stay! We stayed at the Hilton DeSoto, but were not impressed with it. It was a good ride from the airport – but the bride took us for a tour, so we took the long way! Service at the hotel was mediocre at best. To be fair, we arrived on New Year's Day and I'm sure they were not fully staffed. Had great breakfasts in their restaurant - called the Magnolia Cafe, I believe. It was in the historic district and handy to many of the stops on the many tours of the area and within walking distance of the cathedral where the wedding was held. It is a very walkable city and fun to explore.

The riverfront area has tons of shops and a Marriott and Westin hotel. A little crowded with the shops, but many restaurants to choose from.

By all means, take a tour, either walking or by “trolley”. They are very informative! There are many companies offering them.

Some restaurants – Lady and Sons, Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room, Sapphire Grill, Six Pence Pub.

I did not notice many hotels in the airport area, but I’m sure there are at least a few. My only regret is that we did not have enough time to visit DVC at HH. Savannah is charming…..enjoy!
