I'm thinking about booking a hotel near Manchester airport for the night before we go next year, although I'm not sure it it's really worth it since we only live just over an hour away. (Iknow it's only 30 odd miles but for most of the route you can't do more than 30 plus you have to add on time for the trip to the car park and then to the terminal.)

Where would everyone recommend that is reasonably priced? (It would be nice if it included the park facility but only if we can use that for more than 15 days as we are going for 23 but this is not essential.) I've looking at Travelodge and that comes out at £50 a room but as it's so early we have plenty of time to look at this so I thought I would ask for people's suggestions.

there is the marriot hotel which is 5 minutes from airport (in hale barns). They probably have an airport shuttle bus and you could leave your car in their car park. There are also quite a few hotels around the airport now (Raddison, hilton etc) but i don't know what their nightly rates are.
There is also a hotel in Northenden (again 5 minutes down the motorway). This is known as the airport hotel and they definately have a shuttle service.Look for a hotel in the Altrincham/Hale/Northenden/Cheadle areas. These are a lot closer to the airport than Manchester city centre.
Good luck and have a great holiday :goodvibes

We stayed in the Prospect Hotel, just 5 minutes from the hotel in 1996 - cost £70 then for a family room. You could leave your car and they shuttled you to the airport and back.

We recently stayed at Etrop Grange, that was £90 for a family room and 14 days parking. The hotel is only 5 mins away from the airport but that doesn't include breakfast. The hotels dinner menu was quite expensive and didn't have anything the DS's would of liked so they even transported us to a local pub for our evening meal. The room was clean and average size and the staff were very nice.

Hope this helps

We stayed in the one that Virgin can book for you - can't remember the name. It was quite expensive, and had lousy food, but you could park your car at the hotel and they would move it to the secure lot. All the others we looked at, you had to park your car in the lot and then get a bus to the hotel and I couldn't be doing with that! They collected you from the arrivals area and took you back to your car. I'll find the name and it had a website if you want me too!
