Hotels near Heathrow...

DW and I are going to Washington DC for a birthday treat. The in-laws are having our boys and as we live 'up north' am thinking that travelling down to London night before is probably wise. I'm wondering if a hotel near to the airport is worthwhile or somewhere near Paddington so that we can get Heathrow express in the morning.........
Any advice appreciated.

I recently took my dad to Heathrow for a flight to Australia. We stayed at the Hilton opposite Terminal 4 - got a great half price deal including buffet breakfast from Hotels.com £94 for the 2 of us.

I agree - we loved the Yotel for a funky experience, and great to be in the airport

We used priceline.com and got the Sheraton Heathrow in November for £40. Had a nice night there. We got a free bus that night to eat at the airport and get our bearings for the morning. Then in the morning got a taxi for a set price of £10. It was a relaxing start to what was a non-stop trip to New York.
