Well due to budget it looks like we will have to stay offsite. I have tried working everything and just cant get it right,

So, we have no kids, just me and the husband. Any suggestions for a hotel that is close by, decent, cheap ( I know I know, you get what you pay for) and has good shuttle service.

Also I have noticed that some of these places charge a resort fee. Whats up with that? They cant all be "resorts".

Any help is greatly appreciated!

thanks so much
Michelle

It would be helpful if you would define your price range. "Cheap" means something different to everyone.

The resort fee is usually about $5 a day (I wouldn't pay more), most hotels around here have some sort of "fee" so they can advertise lower prices and stay competitive.

Look for a Disney Good Neighbor hotel. This certification keeps them on their toes and you have a better experience. We stayed at the Royale Parc Suites on 192 and they were nice.

Also check with some of the timeshares in the area which may rent unused units. These will be a bit more expensive, but may be a better value as you could have a 1 or 2 BR apartment with a full kitchen / bath / living room for comfort. That comes in nicely when you and hubby want a little you time. These properties are also larger, less packed with guests, guarded and gated, laundry in unit, pool, tennis, etc... Check the RCI website for some of the area timeshares, reviews, and contact info.

Travel zoo has an offer for the Holiday Inn Maingate East for $39 a night. The resort fee is $4.95 per night, I believe. It's a Disney good neighbor hotel.

I travel on business a lot and stay st Choice hotels for the points. Then I use them for free hotels in Orlando. I recently stayed at the Clarion at 7675 W Irlo Bronson Hwy in Kissimmee. It was clean and well run. The restaurant was decent too. The shuttle service is only a few times a day but it fit our schedule. The hotel is V shaped and if you get a room at the bottom of a V they are as big as a suite but only one room. The price right now is under $60 a day before all those famous taxes. It also has many restaurants within walking distance. It's on the tacky souvenir drive south of Disney but that's adds a little fun to it sometimes. Go to choicehotels.com to check it out.:cool1:

The Comfort Inn on Palm Pkwy is good and there is often a deal through Travelzoo for $49 per night. I can't say about a resort fee or a shuttle but at $49 per night I would look into renting a car.

Even with the new 40% room discounts that Disney just announced? When are you going? I am finding values as low as $60 a night. With DME and Disney Transportation, I can't see you doing much better off site.

I looked through some of your other posts to see if I could find a timeframe and if you are still going 9/29-10/3 Expedia has Pop Century for $79 per night + tax. I don't know your budget but if you stay offsite you are more than likely looking at $14 per day parking unless you are taking someone's shuttle.....

Edit to add: All-Stars are showing $69 per night.
