Just wondering why don't the hotels make the reservations for dining like in most cities ?

I don't understand your expectation. There are over 100 table service restaurants in WDW, most not in your hotel. What do you expect?

When I go the Mandarin Oriental in NYC. I can get them too get into hard to access places like Jean Georges. Not in the Hotel . Why does disney not do that ?

Disney resorts are not the same as most city hotels.

There is some concierge service if you book club level at a Deluxe.

Yeah, just too spread out. The resort concierges will make reservations for you, but only while you're actually there.

You would need to stay club level at a deluxe resort in order to have Disney club CM's make your ADR's pre-arrival. Or, book through a TA and have them do it for you.

How many big city restaurants take dining reservations 180 days in advance? If Disney was to do this for every guest at every resort, they would need to employ several full time employees to do nothing else.

This service is provided before check in for Club Level guests at the deluxe resorts.

Any guest already at a resort can ask their concierge to try to get an ADR during their stay. Availability is the problem, since people have already been booking for 6 months. Once a restaurant is booked, it's booked. They can't make an empty table appear out of thin air. Slipping them cash under the table won't work at Disney either.

As others have said when you are there, the concierge's will be happy to make reservations for you. You may also want to consider using a travel agent who also offer this service.

They have a guest dining counter in the hotel lobbies with CMs who will make ADRs for you. But you have to go to the counter.

As mentioned above, club level guests are able to ask a concierge to make ADRs in advance of arrival as well as assist you when you're on site as part of booking at that level.

they are not going to provide this service for restaurants off property because it's not in their interest for guests to spend their money elsewhere. But we have received recommendations from CMs in casual conversations. We of course had to make our own reservations.

Like others have said they will do it for guests in club level rooms and then there are desks at the resort you can go to in order to make reservations. Although if you waited until you were at the hotel you won't likely have much to choose from.

Dining reservations are equal opportunity for anyone looking to dine at a Disney restaurant whether they stay offsite or onsite or even club level. Nobody has special access for hard to get ADRs.

Well, actually that's only true for 99.9% of us. If you are one of the 0.1%, (certain celebrities or very senior Disney execs and their guests), there are CL concierges who can override the reservation system and get their exalted clients any table they want. But, unless you're on a first name basis with Iger, fogedaboutit.

Ha ha. Well, I was assuming OP was not likely one of those .1% or he probably wouldn't have to be asking these questions here. But yes like anything for those super rich and famous or very good friends with the top execs the general rules likely never apply.

I would assume Neil Patrick Harris didn't make his own ADRs while he was there for Processional.

But, if you're NPH, that's awesome.
