Hotels in Vancouver

We're going on the Disney Wonder from Vancouver in 2013 and I would love some suggestions on hotels to stay at. Thanks.

Check out The Manor Guest House. It's our favorite place to stay when we go to Vancouver! It's a bed and breakfast in town, with walking distance to transportation (subway), and a great owner.

The Sutton Place hotel has a wing with fully equipped apartments for about the same price as a regular room. Last time we stayed there we got upgraded to a really nice two bedroom suite. They have an indoor pool and a huge, decadent chocolate themed buffet on Saturday nights.

If your goal is to be close to the cruise and to downtown, and if you can afford it or can get a really good deal, the best hotel is the Pan Pacific. It is right at Canada Place, and they will take your luggage down to the cruise and you can, basically, head right downstairs and walk right on.

If your goal is to keep costs to a minimum, and you are interested in an interesting new experience, stay in Richmond, near the airport. I like the Four Points By Sheraton hotel (we stayed there when we cruised last year) or the La Quinta Vancouver Airport. These two hotels are great, because they have a large mall across the street with a Zellers (think Target), a Toys R Us, a very nice, inexpensive food court, a bookstore, a state liquor store (if you want to pick something up last minute for the cruise), and both hotels have a nearby laundromat. The La Quinta also has an indoor pool.

The mall also has a Canada Line SkyTrain stop, so it's relatively easy to get into Vancouver proper. If you have little luggage, you can take it all the way to the cruise, but in general, I recommend hiring a car to get to Canada Place.

My favorite, little-known attraction in Richmond is the International Buddhist Temple Gardens but please, be respectful. Some areas are off limits to photography, and this is an active temple (some of our relatives are members). It is a beautiful place, which you will never forget.

If you have never visited Hong Kong, Richmond will take you close enough. Most of the signs are in both Chinese and English, and most of the places are geared to Chinese customers. You won't hear a lot of Mandarin--mostly Cantonese, but shopkeepers all speak English. It's a lot of fun in and of itself.

We stayed at the Coast Coal Harbour hotel befpre our DCL cruise and loved it. It was much cheaper than the Pan Pacific but we were still close enough (3-4 blocks) to the port to walk.

While in Vancouver I highly recommend thir Hop On Hop Off trolley. There are lots of HOHO options but the trolley had two loops and covered the entire city. Another highlight was renting bikes and riding all the way around Stanley Park. Vancouver was amazing and I'm so glad we had a couple of days to enjoy it.

+1 on the Pan Pacific. It's a beautiful hotel right on the water. We liked our view of the harbor so much we had dinner sent to our room so we could watch the sea planes coming and going as night fell.

When we woke up the next day, I looked out the window and thought "Hmm. I don't remember seeing a tennis court last night." Then I looked again. A cruise ship (with a tennis court) had docked right there while we slept and we never heard a thing.

We cruised out of Vancouver last May and I was able to get the Pan Pacific thru Hot Wire. There was a thread about Vancouver - maybe you can find it through search.

Anyway, I got the hotel for a ~ $174 a night. This was a beautiful hotel, normal rates are well over $300. It was probably the best deal I had ever gotten and I love to shop for deals. We got 2 rooms for 2 nights and it was just perfect.

We sailed on a Tuesday and flew in on a Sunday, and took the sky train to downtown. We had 2 little ones, so I should have done a taxi or something like that, but we wanted to experience the city.

Vancouver is a beautiful city. We walked to Stanley Park - we like to walk - the kids were in strollers. We ate at the food court across the street from the Pan Pacific and did the Observation Tower - can't remember the name.

It was so easy to get to the ship, you just take the elevator down to the cruise and bell services brought our luggage down there for us.

I think you will love Vancouver - we did, even though we did not see the sun until the day we sailed.

We stayed at the Marriott Pinnacle. We really liked it. It was very close to the waterfront. It was about a four-block walk to Canada Place. You didn't mention how many in your party. That's important IMO. Taxis in Vancouver only take 4 people and they are strict about that. We were 5 (3 kids) so we were glad we were walking distance to the pier and public transportation (which is very easy in Vancouver). We used points for the Pinnacle, but I remember it being rather reasonable.

I'll also second (third?) that we loved Vancouver. Even my kids loved it. They wished we had spent more time in Vancouver.

Sheraton Wall Centre was nice. Not near as close as Pan Pacific though. My friends had a car, but it would be a short taxi ride with luggage. Without luggage, it is not difficult to walk. My room was small but I was the only one in it and on a Hotwire deal, they may have just given me a small room.

Vancouver is awesomeness. Great city for walking around. I took one of the hop on hop off bus tours to see more of the city, like Stanley Park and Granville Island. If you like beer, do the Granville brewery tour and tasting.

We got a great price at the Pan Pacific last August and it was wonderful. The rooms were huge, we were right there and got to watch the ship pull into port...was a wonderful experience.

If you have a car or are using Holiday Inn points, I totally recommend the Holiday Inn North Vancouver. the staff was lovely and the location was great - just across the bridge from downtown and minutes from Grouse Mountain and the suspension bridge. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery and quieter atmosphere of North Vancouver very much.

I second the Hotel Pan Pacific. The location is absolutely perfect. We flew into Seattle and made the scenic drive to Vancouver. We arrived at the Pan Pacific, dropped the rental car off at the National location, also at the hotel.

The next day we had bell services come to the room and transfer our luggage directly to the ship. We simply took the elevator down to the lobby and walked to the cruise ship boarding area. Of the nine previous Disney cruises we sailed, this was by far the easiest process.

The Pan Pacific was wonderful! Was maybe the nicest hotel we had ever stayed in.
It was really nice to have the port right there and our luggage brought right down for us!
All of the transportation was available right out the door of the hotel. We went to Grouse Mountain and Whistler booking it right there. We spent 3 days in Vancouver pre cruise and would love to go back to explore more!!! Awesome city!!!

Another vote for the Pan Pacific. They were offering a cruise rate that included breakfast and as others have noted the luggage option is very nice.
