Any suggestions for hotels in DC with suites? I am traveling with DH, 2 DS (both in 20s) and DD 15. We would ideally like to stay in the NW area near the mall just for the convenience of site seeing, which we had heard was fairly safe but I am open to suggestions. My husband is really worried about staying in an unsafe area. I have enough HHonors points for 2 nites so I have mainly been looking into the Embassy suites by the convention center and the Homewood suites on Massachusetts ave NW but I am open to any hotel.
Thanks for any suggestions!

I'm not familiar with the DC area, but a few years ago we went there but stayed in Alexandria, VA (a historic area) stayed in a Hampton Inn, and I know there was an Embassy Suites in the area. It is near the King St. Metro Station, which is their rail system. The Metro is a quick, convenient, safe ride into the DC area from Alexandria. We purchased all day tickets (at the time were about $6 per person) and it really worked out well for us. We walked down the block to the Metro, took a short ride and were in the middle of it all. It may take a little investigating on your part, but if you called the Embassy Suites in Alexandria (Old Town) I'm sure they could tell you exactly the cost of the Metro and answer any questions you would have to determine if it would be convenient for you.

Hope this helps, good luck. :sunny:
